Help What is a PHP file and how do I open it

I just jopined subsim and every time I download a mod its in PHP format...What is php file and how do I use it...USA user

a php file is a form of web page written in the php language, it has nothing to do with the download you are trying to get. that is to say,
the web page you are looking at, and where you presumably are trying to download the mod from, is written in php.

afaik the error is either in the php page, or in your browser (ive experienced both of these problems).

either:
-try do download with a different/updated browser
or
-alert the postmaster at the site where the mod is, that theres an error
on the page.

ps: almost forgot. some (wrongly configured or horribly setup) firewalls will also result in the error you have encountered. in that case you will have to contact the system administrator on the network you are using.

Every file I try to download from here at subsim creates a PHP instead of a zip when I download it

when I normally download files they come in zip files but when I download from here I get nothing but PHP files....If I can find mod on filefront I get mod in zip but same mod from here all I get is 99% php files...Never saw php before using this site.

Are you you are right clicking on it and attempting to 'save-as'?
Just click on it, the download should start automatically.

Just clicking on it... I make Aircraft for microsoft FSX and Car skins for GTR2 and upload and download files all day long that I post to other sites this is strange never seen php b4 now.... this is 1st for me thought it was an european thing I knew nothing about.....

just downloaded a file and got another php file and this was in the download mgr url box

Just figured it out my download mgr for some reason does not like this site
I canx it from download mgr and saved to desktop outside of download mgr and got zip file instead of PHP,,,,,,you helped although you may think you didnt...You got me to thinking with your simplified explanation of what PHP is...the internet search explanations just confused me into thinking it was a legit form of data packaging.
