Kiel Harbor....
The crew of the valiant U-59,vetran of 5 sucessful patrols, was utterly amazed this morning as they witnessed the destruction of one of the Reich's newest wonder weapons...the flying battleship.
Crewmen reported that they were just beginning their diesel startup procedure, preparing for patrol 6, when several loud aerial expolsions drew their attention to this tragic sight.
The flying battleship crashed directly on the docks and probably even more amazing was the complete lack of destruction one would normally expect after 40,000 tons of steel drops from above. There were no reported casualities among the dock workers, nurses, soldiers, guards, bandsmen or policemen present to see the U-59 off.
It is unclear wether the destruction of the flying battleship was due to enemy or friendly fire, just an operational accident or perhaps was weather related. The Navigator aboard U-59,Otto Totenhagen did relay this bit of info concerning the weather:
Clouds Clear, Precipitations None, Fog None, Wind Speed 5 Direction 0 . So it remains doubtful if weather was a factor. The below photos were take by our newsstaff reporter shortly before he was escorted away by the local Gestapo.
The public affairs office of the Kriegsmarine latter related that this incident was of no concern and probably was just some form of British induced mass hallucination.
We report. Fuer Headquaters decides.:salute:
