dude... i voted USA for obvious reasons.
but as far as i'm concerned there are ZERO contenders other than the US and UK.
its a ridiculous question if one includes those two nations head to head.
No contest between the two.
Its like two identical supermen getting into a fight to the death, and they both land a fatal punch on the first hit.
:haha:
in fact when it comes to classic rock there really isnt a USA or a UK... the USA and the UK just meld together to form something better known as
*---EPIC---*

I couldn't vote for any of those. Though I don't consider metal to be 'classic' rock, they are all great.

Southern Rock of the 70's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_rock#1970s_.E2.80.93_peak_of_popularity), which is pretty limited in scope but it is among my favorite and most listened-to variety of the classic rock era.
I cannot bring myself to cast a proper vote, because I know very little beyond the US/UK contributions. :-?
The poll question is Best rock music comes from. No classic in the sentence.
US!

Then either the thread title or the poll title is a lie.
Or at best wrong. :O:

Oasis
Queen
Genesis
Def Leppard
Whitesnake
This is an easy win for US.

As far as metal is concerned, it's a huge loss for the US. With a few exceptions, all good metal comes from Europe (especially Scandinavia).
Oasis
Sorry Jim, but I must take issue with you there... oasis are not a rock band; they are in fact a bunch of uncouth northern monkeys that rode the wave of 'cool britannia' and toadying up to unctuous politics, all the while pushing out pappy nondescript dirges, aimed at the sort of individual who thinks patriotism is all about waving football shirts in one hand whilst clutching a can of tenants super in the other.
I have no problem with your other selections though... however, you did omit Judas Priest, I'm sure this oversight was not intentional.

I always had some aversion for british traditions (particularly for the Royal Family and the British Monarchy)
But when it comes to music : UK rules :rock::rock:

ooh, I'd forgotten about them.
Despite their slight leanings towards 'cock-rock', I liked the scorpions.

The way the mind works...it's rather silly that one reason why I associate UK and good music is because of Virgin Radio Classic Rock (now Absolute). I was very happy when I discovered that online radio. Next week I'll be in London for the first time. Can't wait to listen to Leona Graham without a browser.
Another reason is the Beatles and the Abbey road, lol.
Anyway if there is a classic rock song that I enjoy the most then that is More Than a Feeling by the american band Boston.
Do you have an all-time fav?

Your Led Zeppelin point/choice is a good one because they are all excellent tracks but aergistal asked for an all time favourite so I had to pick one.
Here's one of many I could have chosen - Celebration Day (on vinyl)

I know. I just have a dislike for most of their later music, and I've never know why. Actually my tastes are so weird that I've always prefered the Jeff Beck to LZ.

Er, you're asking which country produces X where X is an American genre (I had to look up "classic rock" on Wikipedia to figure that out). So I'm guessing the answer is... America! Or it could be 42.

Er, you're asking which country produces X where X is an American genreNope, the question is which country produces the BEST rock. Rock might be American in origin, but the best classic rock is clearly British:O:
(leave out the "classic" and the best rock (read: Metal) comes from Scandinavia:))

UK!
Classic Rock only becomes so as the tide of time passes by, I wonder how much 'modern' rock will stand?
Although I put UK, I do really like a bit of Focus to run to, but they are only a short ferry ride away...
And onelifecrisis got it right with the answer to life, the universe and everything - 42 years ago, Led Zeppelin performed for the first time as The New Yardbirds, Dave Gilmore joined Pink Floyd (thank goodness!), The Beatles released "The White Album", Yes/Deep Purple/Cream formed, as did Black Sabbath (as Earth).

The shorter on on the left.
It was only a phase.
As for 'Classic' rock, many years ago I worked at a warehouse in which a different employee got to choose the radio station every day. When one of the younger workers complained about always listening to 'Classic Rock' I said "Let's do a test. Point to one song you love to listen to that forty years from now you will be able to show to a youngster then and say 'Now that was great music.'"
He walked away.

I pass by this place all the time:
http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/content/rec/images/facilities/wheatonfront.jpg
On January 20th, 1969, Led Zeppelin probably played to their smallest public audience (or close to it) there. Only about 50 people showed up.
