In Ecuador, a jungle raid led to the discovering of a home-build submarine that obviously was meant to smuggle narcotics. While submersible trnsportation crafts used by smugglers is not that new anymore, this sub is different. It has a Diesel and an electric drive, could not just skim below the surface (or lie flat on the surface, giving a low profile, but could dive deeper indeed, and data on it's size varies: length between 25 and 30 m, height between 2.7 and 3.5 meters. Loading capacity in narcotics: 12 tons.
Found in a German news article that also wonders when drug cartels will start to use remote-controlled transportation drones.
