View Full Version : Is there a way to permanently remove visitor and private messages from our profiles?

I was wondering if there was a way to permanently remove all visitor and private messages from our profiles when we have read them?,that way we can keep our profiles nice and tidy.It seems the only option available when deleting is 'soft delete' which deletes the message but still leaves the author's name and date (I think) of the message.

And also,I would like to permanently remove old infractions when they have expired,as I got one (my first) a long time ago,and now I am a good boy.

Thanks.

I had a short break from the game, went to the pub for a few pints :woot:*hik*
Will be back on it today sometime, all being well. Hope the sea stays calm,my head is already swimming a bit as it is!

Go to your User Control Panel (link "User CP" top left of the forum), go to "List messages". Select the desired folder, and the messages you want to delete (use checkmarks). Go down the page to the pulldown list with "Selected Messages:" next to it. Select "Delete" in the pulldown list. (Advise: Do this before you go to the pub. Unless you want Bernard to be your drinking buddy. ;) )

I did all that already mate, what I am referring to is this,I have reminders of the old messages saying they have been deleted. Now there is a 'soft delete' why not a 'hard delete' ?removing EVERYTHING including the reminders. Its the bit where you open your main profile, and below where it says 'showing visitor messages' then there is a list of SIX entries saying 'this message has been deleted by...guess who.

Thanks.

I've got the same problem.
When I choose to delete something, I expect it to be totaly gone.

Paul, have you tried moving them to another folder as Pisces suggests because I regularly do this and never have any problem? :hmmm:

The visitor messages I have never touched though.

Alright, now I get it. I was confusing 'Visitor messages' with private messages.

Sorry, have no solution for this.
