Independence Day

Today is the day America stated its claim for its independence from the british roughly 225 years ago. today everywhere in the U.s there will be the time-honored tradition of using millions of tons of fireworks. hell, theres gonna be so many dam fireworks that the alarms of cars in canada will be going off.

To ALL americans, I propose a toast to the well being and prosperity of this nation.

Get rid of our stupid "dictator" government and restore some freedom!!:yep: Some of the laws we have here are just plain stupid, voting is compulsory but with stupid preferential voting we can never vote out either of the 2 parties that are in power, the constitution in the USA is basically embedded in concrete (bill of rights) but here the government can change anything they like, it doesn't have to go to the public for a vote!:nope:
You never own your land here, you only have an interest in the land, if you don't pay your land rates etc you lose your house!! even if you have vacant land you have to pay rates etc or lose it!:oops: It is against the law to defend yourself, if someone breaks into your house you can't do anything, and if they break a leg tripping over something on your property they can sue your ass off!:doh:
Well I'd better calm down or I'll pop a fuse! Just be thankful you can celebrate Independence day over there, we used to celebrate Guy Fawkes day here till they banned fireworks!:damn: That was before they banned guns, well I'd go for a ride on my push bike but if I don't wear a helmet I will be charged $150 for endangering my own life!! - True!!

Bycicle helmets compolsutory only till you're 14 or smth.
Fireworks allowed on new year, airsoft course in almost every village (and I kid you not), you land is only your land (which kinda sucks for those of us that want that highway finnaly built but some old-as-earth farmer wont sell that weed overgrown plot to the company)

but you'll have to endure high taxes, incompetent politicans and an overall eficiency of a dead trout

Taxes here are disgusting! This is a good coincidence, I am currently studying "instant run-off" voting procedures in my Public Finance class. The system has its advantages and disadvantages.

Could you please explain, why you feel this system does not work well for you? I would be interested in your opinion on this issue.
