"81. Bonnie and Clyde."

Yea, those two criminals really made America great. Just like Al Capone. Or better yet, Ted Bundy.

Btw, notice how few products are on that list?

I really have nothing to do, today. I could go down to the Mall in D.C. to watch the fireworks, but I really hate the vast amounts of humanity I'd have to deal w/and the Metro ride home w/same. And it's going to be HOT HOT HOT!!!

Hopefully the clouds move out before nightfall. This has happened here for three or four years now - the week leading up to the 4th is dry and sunny, then it's downpour throughout the 4th. *grumble* :shifty:

A lot of interesting things happened on this day in history. Of course interesting things happened on any day in history, but you know...

1776 The amended Declaration of Independence, prepared by Thomas Jefferson, was approved and signed by John Hancock, the President of the Continental Congress in America.

1802 The U.S. Military Academy officially opened at West Point, NY.

1845 American writer, Henry David Thoreau, began his two-year experiment in simple living at Walden Pond, near Concord, MA.

1855 The first edition of "Leaves of Grass," by Walt Whitman, was published in Brooklyn, NY.

1881 Billy the Kid was shot to death in New Mexico.

1910 Race riots broke out all over the United States after African American, Jack Johnson, knocked out Jim Jeffries in a heavyweight-boxing match.

1959 The 49-star U.S. flag was debuted.

1960 The 50-star U.S. flag made its debut in Philadelphia, PA.

1966 U.S. President Johnson signed the Freedom of Information Act, which went into effect the following year.

1976 The U.S. celebrated its Bicentennial.

1997 The Mars Pathfinder, an unmanned spacecraft, landed on Mars.

1997 Ferry service between Manhattan and Staten Island was made free of charge. Previously, the charge had ranged from 5 cents to 50 cents.

But they left one off. On this day in 1982 my second daughter was born! Happy Birthday Scooterbug!

It's just a shame your post is sandwiched between two of our resident trolls attempts at baiting you Americans on your special day....sad bastid :nope:

Edit...with respect folks, I am not the SubSim policeman and my PM account is now full.

Please send any comments or complaints to Neal.

I'm now going to create a little space but won't be responding further.

That's why he as the distinction of being the only member I've ever put on my 'Ignore' list. I can abide any manner of insult or even trolling, because I love to discuss things, even with those who refuse to discuss but just insult. But his apparently pathological need to turn any random thread into a "US sucks!" or "Israel sucks!" rant has gotten to be too much for me. It's not the bashing, I can handle that. It's the way he does it anywhere, anytime and for no apparent reason other than hatred.
