Hi
when I try to fire a ATF torped I got the message "cannot compute solution for ATF tubes" ????

Hi wolf - if your target solution is too far forward then it's beyond the torpedos turning angle. I think they can turn about 110 degrees from dead astern at most. In your situation you either have to use the forward torps or turn the boat a bit.

Please do some reading in the sticky threads.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=108931 for instance.

Aft torpedos can't be fired on targets in front of you, that's just normal. The TDC won't calculate such a shot for you, as you risk running into your own torpedo.
270 goint around to 0 and to 90 degrees is for front tubes, 90 around 180 to 270 degrees is for aft tubes. Roughly. You fare much better when you give them each a 120 degree angle to be fired in. Front facing the 0, aft facing the 180.

I presume you mean AFT torpedo (not ATF). This warning will generally come up if you're trying to fire at something beyond the aft torps "field" of action, or if you have the periscope at a bearing not compatible with an aft solution. Try bringing the scope to a near 180 bearing and try again. Also make sure you have an aft torp selected.

you're not trying to use the notepad in a uboat are you?

uboats and fleet boats are two different things, and shall forevermore remain.

i use 0 bearing gyro (or as close to it as possible) shots for both factions.

for fore tubes i'm at zero, for stern i'm at 180 degrees respectively. all manual TDC. with known speed and range past the distance to contact.
