this Kagan chick is a fat ignorant sow.

Au contraire, I think she's a fat smart sow with an agenda, is fairly politically adept, and has legions of allies who are, in fact, ignorant. If previous legislation concerning nutrition is any indication, she'll get her way because she's an insidious, conniving little bitch who is intelligent enough to play to special interest groups and political cliques whilst dodging questions on issues as a whole. That's just politics.:nope:

Coburn (not that I'm a fan of his, either) can beat her black and blue with the logic stick and then throw her into the common sense canyon and it won't make a bit of difference. Even if Kagan doesn't get the seat, there will be more like her and they won't stop until they find a way in. They always find a way in. Frakking parasites.

So because trying to paint a central right Obama pick as some left wing loon fails just resort to sexism is that correct?

I dont get what yall are so worked up about. Trust me if Obama would have listened he would have picked someone to balance out Alito's insane right wing activism from the bench.

yes zach... the woman is a clown.

did you even watch the video? did you see that rug dance???:06:

its pure and simple - congress doesnt have the right to force individual citizens to purchase goods or services and she knows it.

"Central right"? Man if you think she's central right no wonder this country is heading for another civil war.

Central Right???

Sure tossing the recruiters off campus is a central right act...

Meh she is nothing but a blank slate if you will a rubber stamp for the current adminstrations agenda.

It is quite obvious to a good many pepole but it wont matter, she will be seated and probably alot faster than some more conservative picks of the recent past.

Obama could have nominated the ghost of Ayn Rand and the comments in this thread would have been the exact same, simply because she was an Obama nominee.

Politics as usual:

Republicans, privately frustrated, acknowledge that they have searched without luck for a controversy to pin on Kagan, Obama's solicitor general, since she was nominated in early May. "There's been so little oxygen for this," said one senior Republican aide.

"Ghost of Ayn Rand":rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Nice one, mookie:up:

Of course, the nice thing about having a ghost on the bench is that you could see right through her, unlike politically ambitious persons, which Kegan is.

Leftist have a VERY hard time admitting when they're wrong
And Rightists don't? I've had problems for years with people who know that they're right, and that applies to all sides of every issue.

this Kagan chick is a fat ignorant sow.
A brilliant appraisal of her qualifications.

you can see it in her face. "Ohhh how do i dance around this one?"
And you would see that exact same look on my face if someone asked me an obviously loaded question which I knew was designed to trip me up. I thought her separating "Dumb law" from "Constitutional" was a good answer. Would she vote for or against such a law? Who knows? Probably not even she herself. On the other hand they only showed a small clip of an obviously longer proceeding. I would like to know how that particular part played out.

thats no judge... thats just another politician
True, but it also applies to many of them. A little research would reveal that a great many Supreme Court justices have been selected because of their political leanings, only to be a disappointment to the presidents who appointed them.

I'm more likely to question her on her lack of actual experience. She apparently has never actually tried a case as a lawyer and never been a judge. On the other hand there is nothing that says a Supreme Court nominee must have any legal training at all.

I had quite seriously considered changing the thread title to "People have a very hard time admitting when they're wrong" for that very reason.

however, since the topic of discussion is a leftist issue... i didnt ;)

most people have that problem.

and i disagree with the comment that anyone Obama would have brought in would have been picked apart.

anyone that any president picks for the job SHOULD be picked apart.
However, this lady is quite clearly trying to satisfy her masters in her answers, and this clearly shows her to be incapable of removing bias in her judgment.

it is black and white - Congress simply does not have the power or authority to tell me i have to buy something and thats what this conversation of mine is all about... everyone on the supreme court knows it... she knows it... everyone in this forum knows it, but her rug dance about it could make a person puke.

Good point Steve, and that's the reason why I never discuss about politics here.

Everyone (or almost everyone) in their solitude are cultivating their own certitude.

I guess it's a matter of comfort.

I suppose we should pull out the fair play rule, and give her the "justice Thomas" treatment.

What thinketh the Wise Latina? How rule ye?:shucks:

It's just politics as usual, but these people do need to be grilled though.

Anyone read Kagan's viewpoint on these preceedings?

Oh they were written years ago and I pretty much agree with all of it.

The article you cited is incomplete in that it leaves out important information.

What actually happened is that she prohibited the military recruiters from the Office of Career Services but allowed them to recruit from the Office of Harvard Veteran's Association.

Which actually makes sense. If I were running a recruiting event, the Veteran's Association would be the preferred location as the students would get a chance to talk with people who either work with veterans or veterans themselves.

But at no time did she kick them off the campus, only out of one office on campus. Since she did not have the authority to violate the University's rules, moving the military recruiters to the Harvard Veteran's Association offices, which was the decision of her predecessor, was probably the best compromise possible.

Fact is those on you on the right have little room to speak. Allito was known as a RW bushie from day one yet he got in nice and smooth. And has ruled to pass major Right Wing policies through the court.

I can hardly believe the comments and the attacks from the right. All indications point to a more right leaning coward than the one she replaced.

Last I checked Alito was not exactly the bastion of conservative values.

I'm curious, what justification can you provide for calling any Supreme Court Justice a coward?

I'm curious, what justification can you provide for calling any Supreme Court Justice a coward?

especially when they are right leaning.

i thought left leaning judges were the ones that took the opinion that the criminal is the real victim of the crime, and that those poor murderers and child predators need to be sentenced to a life of ease in a rehabilitation resort.

Kinda like the left wing judge that sentenced the arsonist last year who set 9 cars and two houses in my neighborhood on fire (mine included)... it was estimated that he caused nearly $2,000,000 in damages and placed at least 5 lives in danger by setting fire to homes which contained sleeping individuals.

whats the maximum sentence? We were advised that he could be looking at 10 years in prison.

what would i have given him? 5 years with the chance at parole or early release on good behavior

what did this liberal retard judge give him? A deferral to Probation with zero jail time. he cant drink or do anything illegal for the next ten years... whoopie fuggin' doo  basically the kid was sentenced to 10 years of what most of us would consider normal life.

THAT sir... is a coward judge

I disagree. You might be able to make a case that the judge was wrong, even stupid, but based on your example cowardice has absolutely nothing to do with it.
