How the heck does this game get sold on Steam w/o a manual????

That is crazy! I have no idea how to 'PLAY' this game... after doing the training one, the only way I found out I needed to click on a person was from searching the web. Now I can talk to them and see the options of missions, but no idea how to 'accept' the missions... no where on the screen is this obvious.

Even SH3 was more intuitive that this thing.

FAIL for the lack of maual, FAIL for non-intuitive interface, FAIL for crappy DRM.

This will be the last SH game I spend money on... and I spend well over $1000 a year on games.

It's a pdf manual you have to connect to.

Here's a link to a download. http://www.atomicgamer.com/files/85294/silent-hunter-5-battle-of-the-atlantic-manual-pdf

Ok downloaded and read... it does not tell me how to accept a mission... Again I can see the 3 mission choices, but not how to accept one... and when I leave that screen the guys asks me if I really want to go off sailing w/o a mission...

Man this game is unintuitive... and I've been playing sub games for a decade...

Agree its unintuitive. But disagree on total fail.... only a partial fail :DL

To get your mission you have to talk to the commander, look at his map, click on one of crosses and Request mission. THEN go back into the menu and "start patrol" (or something along those lines).

And don't forget about the patches and the add-ons like the S-Class patch and U-boat Missions for SH4. HOPEFULLY, if the devs listen to our requests over at ubi forums, we might get the type 2 and 9 in future updates.

I should think that's more prophecy, than choice.

Besides, TDW UI mod makes this game A LOT more playable.

How can something fail when it never was finished to begin with.

If UBI doesn't drop support it just will take some time.

Agreed. The series is dead.

To be completely honest I think that this bread and your problem are fail..

Seriously? The guys in your boat have frigging halos and SPEECH bubbles over their heads! Also spend a total of thirty seconds and you'll find the answer to your problem..
Sorry for the rant but seriously guys don't call the gam fail because you lack common sense. It took me a whole five seconds during the intro wake up scene to figure I had to talk (click) on the sailors to interact. So please if your going to call the game fail.. At least call it on an actual game breaker

Or, some are just burnt out on the simulation in general.

Sorry but no. This comment is completely out of line. We're not supposed to interpret a game we paid for. It's the developer's responsibility to insert a comprehensive manual or at least decent tutorials in order for everyone that paid for the product to be able to play without having to wonder how to do something.

It's called professionalism and you, sir, just flied in it's face.

Simulation? That's a generous use of the term.
