Naval Intelligence intercepts indicate the sinking of a German U-boat around the date of 28.01.1942, at or near the following coordinates:
38°38'1.05"N 73°50'19.87"W
Our analysts conclude that the u-boat in question was U-108, under the command of Oberleutnant zur See Heinz Schlotmann.
Indications are that the u-boat was surprised on the surface, during the night in extreme heavy sea, rain and fog. There are no reports of survivors.
Investigations are underway to shed some light if "radar technology" was used, or if this was just an unlucky coincidence.
Sincerely
Marine Nachrichtendienst
