Epic - Cheesy hair but epic
Good tunes from the eighties, I've got too many favourites to list, but here's one that I just thought of when listening to yours Xabba.

This tune is the first dance I ever had with the woman who is now my wife.
It was only our second date and we were in a local night club with a few of my then shift colleagues and their respective partners, we had been around a few bars in the town earlier and I'll always remember seeing her in front of me dancing with my tie around her forehead in a hairband fashion.
Less than an hour later my colleagues and I were battling to evict a gang of pi$$ heads out of the establishment as a means of helping a woefully under strength compliment of doormen

It's amazing how we're all a part of the time we came of age in. John Lennon once said that the best music ever written was what you listened to as a teenager, which made Chuck Berry the greatest artist ever as far as he was concerned.
I grew up in the '60s, so of course everything that formed me came from that era.
So the music of the 1980s was my 'new crap' that wasn't as good as the 'old stuff'. I like Foreigner, can tolerate Toto and Survivor, and maybe Duran Duran a little, but the rest is boring to me. Weird, ain't it?
Oh, and stabiz, the Kim Wilde song is a remake of a 1966 original by The Supremes.

Funny how I'm only 34 but the stuff kids today listen to does my head in.
Funny how I'm only 34 but the stuff kids today listen to does my head in.
With time we lose the "WOW" factor for music i think.(but from time to time i find something that "blows my mind")
But still if you play the 70 80 rock music to today kids they will like it if they are into rock.
80 Pop they might find silly.

I served my time as an apprentice Mechanical Fitter in the local shipyards as a 16 year old from 1973 to 1977.
During this period I was a huge fan of David Robert Jones, better known as David Bowie.
I had the word ZIGGY painted on the rear of my motorcycle helmet and my claim to fame at the time (LOL) was that I had every piece of vinyl of his and also knew the lyrics to all his songs.
There are probably a few hundred tracks I could post here but I'll use the track of one of his rarest 45's, a real collectors item these days and residing in a safety deposit box in my bank with a few other rareties.

It's a shame this thread isn't about 70s music though... for some reason I tend to like the 70s more than the 80s... Maybe it's got something to do with me being a huge fan of Black Sabbath, with Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC among my favorites as well.

Not a crackin' tune, but what I consider to be the best thing musically to come out of the '80s.

If you like it, look around. Every performance is different. Some are better, but I picked this one because you can see everything his hands are doing.
Remember, it's one man and one guitar.

I agree Steve, that guyis so talented, every time I come across him on the net I'm amazed at the diversity of the tunes he plays.
One of my favourites was his rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

Thanks for the CSN link. Though they played some great music in the '80s (and continue to today) I wouldn't have thought of them since I've been a fan since 1968. Actually I was a fan of Crosby in 1965 (The Byrds) and Stills since 1966 (Buffalo Springfield). Graham Nash came from The Hollies, but I wasn't a fan back then.
I wasn't a big Dire Straights fan at the time, but since Mark Knopfler recorded the 'Neck and Neck' album with Chet Atkins I've come to appreciate his incredible guitar work.

Yeah, I was listening to all of the above (except The Hollies, who I never latched onto for some reason, altho I was familiar with their hits from the radio) in the 70s and 80s. Always liked CSN (and CSNY) and fell in love with Southern Cross when it started getting radio play. After I bought the album though I found I liked one of Crosby's songs better, altho once the vinyl was long gone I couldn't remember what it was. Downloaded the album again a while back and I'm pretty sure it was Delta... altho I now like Might As Well Have A Good Time just as much, so who knows?
