Does anyone know which boats were used for filming of the old war movies?
In some of the movies you can tell they constructed sets and used models for exterior shots, but in alot of the old movies they either did an amazing job building the sets or they really filmed aboard a sub.
I tried looking in the credits, but it usually only says thanks to the navy department or something simular.
One that interests me is Destination Tokyo. It looks like a early Gato externalily, but the interior looks different, It almost looks like a Porpoise Class. It might just be a set, but it looks pretty real.
I know the Silversides and Pampanito were used in movies, but what about the other films like Run Silent Run Deep,Hellcats of the Navy,Battle of the Coral Sea ect?
So can anyone tell us anything about the "Movie Star" Boats?
