Hey folks.. I'm posting here cause well i have exhausted any means of fixing this issue. So im coming aboard here to see if anyone has any fixes for what im dealing with here.

The game pretty much crashes randomly to desktop. Event Viewer gives me this error.

Faulting application name: sh4.exe, version: 1.5.0.0, time stamp: 0x476a5ca9
Faulting module name: EnvSim.act, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x476a5c5e
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000205a5
Faulting process id: 0xcb4
Faulting application start time: 0x01cb14c050a83b70
Faulting application path: E:\Ubisoft\SH4\sh4.exe
Faulting module path: E:\Ubisoft\SH4\EnvSim.act
Report Id: f1aca8d0-80b3-11df-b15f-001a92982fd2

Here is what i got as far as Rig:
AMD 7750 dual core processor.
4gigs RAM
Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT (June 7th driver updated) 8.17.12.5721
Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.
DirectX 11 + Directx 9.0c June runtime installed.
3gigs Page file.

Mods:
RFB 2.0
RFB 2.0 Patch
RSRDC_RFB_V575
RSRDC patch

What i have tried:

-I have tried a complete uninstall/reinstall of the game. Including the full uninstall with registry removal as posted on the boards. Updated to 1.5 patch

-Removed all mods.

-Changed Vid drivers (3 different times)

-Disabled sound card (see if that was causing any issues)

-Memory tests just fine. Other games are gtg.

-DX9c as stated above.

- Windows compatability to XP SP3

-Moving the entire game to a new folder on the root drive

Thank you all for any help and suggestion that you can bring me up. I noticed crashes on different events (changing to bridge view etc, the module may change, but the faulting app is still SH4.exe

First suggestion would be if you have it installed in C:\Program Files (default install for stock SHIV), uninstall it and then reinstall it directly to your C: drive under any title you like. As with Vista, Win 7 and games don't work very well when they are installed in the Program Files folder. :yeah:

Hope this helps. :DL

As cdsubron7 stated a problem with "Program Files" folder. But the above line I am not sure what you did. You said "Moving". Did you actually move the game to a different folder or did you "Install" it to a different folder? You sound like you know what you are doing so it may sound like a stupid question, but we run into all kinds of things overlooked.
So if you did 'move' it, then uninstall and "Install" to a different folder.

Moving or installing makes no difference in the case of SH4. Copy+paste is how I've migrated it to a new OS twice now.

I have the same issue and I tried it too, but the "Program Files" folder has nothing to do with it.

I noticed an increase in CTDs in two situations.

1. When quickly changing from the map screen to the bridge after using TC.
2. In bad weather and fog (could be the volumetric fog?)

Interesting. :hmmm: I would have thought it would cause a conflict with the registry entries, and with the game being able to find the files it needs. Thanks for the info, that does surprise me.

I've also moved it from XP (Standalone PC) to Win7 (Laptop) just by copying it to an SD card and then to the laptop's D:\Games\Sh4 Folder.
No installation whatsoever needed.
Win7 did seem to dislike environmental effects in bad weather a bit, maybe because laptop graphics drivers are a little outdated and don't get redone every month. I just disabled them and the fog, too. No CTD when going to the bridge anymore.

I'm also running Win7 Ultimate. What I did was a regular install into my C:\programmes folder as usual, then copy and paste directly into the C: drive itself. Then I renamed it to 'Pacific Wolves' I run TMO 2 + various other mods with no troubles whatsoever. Have run this setup for 5 weeks now. Sh4+UB missions
