Alternative forum search (no waiting time)

I see that some people have trouble finding stuff around so I thought I might share my method, that doesn't require you to wait 30 seconds. This might not be new to many of you but anyway. I'm posting this here instead of subsim review so people will have a chance to see it.

1. Fire up google
2. In the search box enter:

site:subsim.com "exact expression" keyword

(site:subsim.com - use only the domain name, no spaces)


eg: site:subsim.com "missing harbors" sh5


You can also do quick conversions with google. You can enter things like:

150m in feet

and hit search to see the result.

The "Site:" command in Google is a very powerful tool.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. Good tip, bud. Maybe a copy of it should be stickied in the Comments to Subsim, since many of our newcomers jaunt through there to introduce themselves. :up:

Yup, I frequently make use of that. Not only is it faster than the forum search engine, it's smarter, too.

I have Google Advanced Search bookmarked. It has a 'Site' box at the bottom, so I don't have to remember to type in exactly the right thing every time.
