damage control for surface ships

Right i have a request and an idea.

first my request....

How do you control flooding on a ship, i currently use HMS Renown, i was on my first patrol and engaged two fubuki destroyers of the coast of tokyo.
Then out of no where i list 45 degrees after a very violent explosion that causes no damage to my hull, or equipment.

i then manage to gun down these two ships before actually sailing back to midway while continuously holding a 45 degree list. (the ship dont like sinking i presume)

only after i get back and repaired, i set out for my second destination and wham, now my forward torpedoe room is critically flooded, but no, she will not go down, i have sailed alomst 1000 nm across the pacific ocean while the front of my ship takes a bath, also with a slight list.

why wont my damage control kick in, yes im on battlestations, yes im doing all that i can think of with my crew layout and still my mighty HMS Renown will not repair.

NOW MY IDEA...

My idea is to add a distress button to the hud, when pushed you wait a few hours until an escort ship which repairs you for a set amount of renown.

i cant do this and thought of you guys, as your more talented than myself.

on the other hand i have another damage problem....the hull meter keeps reading but the bulkhead icons and other system models are just fine no matter if the damage reaches 100 the ship sunks and not even flooding on icons!! no indication on entering water turning red you know....oh and i have the ijn fuso bb....any help how can i fix this?

To correct a list, you should be able to "counter flood" to keep the vessel from healing over and going down. You will most likely ride lower in the water, but at least you won't have to worry about capsizing.

May i ask of the 'Renown', I'm assuming it's playable, where did you find this beast ? is it available for download ?
