Does anyone know of a way of tweeking the game to reduce enemy air traffic? I have asked this before and been told that it IS realistic as it is and that I should read my history. Really guys?! Over 25 air attacks between Tinian and Mindinao? Most of them by Zeros with the final one nearky destroying my sub at a depth 120 feet!?
With all due respect - I don't think so.
I AM using evasion methods, air radar, ect which is why I was 'safely' submerged when I was hit.
Any help wpuld be appreciated.
I am not dissing the game - it's potentially great but as it is it resembles a backyard game of Marco Polo more then a sub sim.

There's a mod out there by Webster(IIRC) that reduces air patrols, especially the zeroes.
Try searching the mods forum.

I use TMO and haven't seen that many but you didn't say the timeframe. Is that 25 in one day? That would definitely be weird. Are you sure your mods aren't screwing something up regarding the aircraft quantity? Just a suggestion.

Here it is...just remember per Ducimus using this mod overwrites all his air craft upgrades.

The problem of too many airplanes, as was pointed out in a very recent mods thread on the subject, is that in some corridors heavy air traffic, coupled with a high rate of time compression, makes planes appear every 10-20 seconds. TMO and RSRDC are attempts at realism. Webster's Better Air Mods overrides those mods realism effects. The answer lies in slowing Time Compression (TC) way down when in the corridors where there is a lot of plane traffic. This enables you to conserve the realism aspect. (At night you can increase Time Compression because planes are grounded usually.)
Here is the link to the mods forum thread. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=171180 . Note, tomoose's post near the end of the thread hits the nail on the head with his two references to TC (Time Compression), although they are not emphasized. Also, lurker posts are very instructive re realism and RSRDC.
I thought the issue was whether RSRDC caused excessive air patrols. I think I was wrong. I removed the mod, and found there was still a great deal of aircraft traffic in TMO2.0 standing alone.
Bottom line: In areas of heavy aircraft traffic reduce TC. Alternative, forget the realism component and use Webster's Air Patrols.

Every time you are spotted or contact the enemy, there is a very good chance they will report your position. The more of you the enemy see's, the more likely more planes will be airborne.

TMO2.0 plus RSRDC--still too many aircraft. I spend all day bobbing up and down avoiding them. I hit the C and P key. Then I have to change speed from flank to regular speed so I don't wear out the battery. It is exhausting. I have not been sunk yet, but I did run out of fuel, as I left the engine on flank by mistake and used too much fuel. How can I reduce the number of aircraft by 30 - 40 percent?

modify the Airstrike.cfg file - self explanatory for the most part.
You can change the "probability" of air strikes- just what you are looking for I think.
