Could some one please help me with a piece of research, I am looking specific information and photographs of U270 ITS TWO COMMANDERS and if please possible details on a specific crew member whom i have named before his family wish to find out more about their father and would be most appreciative if any members of this forum would be so kind as to help them, also any photographs and his KM history would be so gratefully received .

some further details

name - julius august hermann petermann,
fathers name - heizer julius august petermann
mothers name - frieda marie maiden name nedel

my father was born on 09-04-25 in Greifenhagen, near Stettin , occupation kupferschmidt/ coppersmith
the only address I have is Stadtisch-Monchkappe, house number 13

family's new address after fleeing west was in Jacobsdorf, Stralsund

dad's discharge papers from the navy are dated 20-12-48, his service dates are from
16-05-43 till 13-08-44

his role on U270 was that of Maschinenmaat

Also, you should start a search query at the WAst. They can provide details about your fathers career.

Another venue is the Deutsches Bundesarchive, Zweigstelle Militärgeschichte in Freiburg, where you may be able to get a copy of the war diaries of U-270.

The WAst, or Deutsche Dienstelle is the branch that has the personal documents and files from members of the German armed forces during WW2 under its control.
