Or at least the icons have. Does anyone know if I sail back to Kiel will I be able to dock or should I just start over again?

Just key your Mic to the tower frequency while flying a pattern around the airfield and the runway lights should come back on automatically.
:o
...Oh, wait...
Nevermind. Wrong forum...

I am beginning to think I should have called the thread "Please tell me why SH5 is teh SUX0R and how I can get my ports back"

Never seen that problem... so I can only suggest trying to go back and see what's there.
EDIT: All your ports are belong to us!

Nor me - never heard of it before which is why I didn't reply.
I take it you've tried disabling your mods?

Yeah... it was a first for me, too.
The funny thing is that if I zoom in on Kiel the port is still there, it's just the Icon that disappeared. In fact... all Axis and Allied port icons have vanished (the airfield icons are still there, though.)
Now that I think of it, the icon that designates my actual patrol area within my mission (British Supplies) disappeared at the same time.
Curiouser and Curiouser.
I haven't disabled any mods as this happened between two session where I had not loaded any additional mods. But maybe I will take them all out just to see.
Thanks

I have also never even heard of this, let alone experienced it, sorry. I guess you are just lucky John.:O:

Took out all the mods... no change.
Sooooooo... sailed back to Kiel and was able to end the patrol. Problem is after my next patrol I don't know whether to go back to Kiel or transfer to
Wilhelmshaven.
Maybe I will just try a re-install.
Lucky me!:woot:.

John, there is one thing I can think of that you could try, but it is a long shot. You could install one of the mods that fixes some of the ports Terrain_Harbour_Flags_Mod_1_1 is an example. Maybe that will give your install of SH5 the kick in the guts it needs. Just a thought, it would be great if it saved you a reinstall.:salute:

Do you get the dock icon when you start a patrol at your home port? If so, that will tell you if you can end there, but the no port icons... hmmm if a new career has the same issue, then reinstall!

Yeah... it was a first for me, too.
In March, some weeks after the release, two customers reported also this bug on the German Ubisoft Forum
http://forums-de.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3431013487/m/6561068248?r=8471068248#8471068248
but no solution was found until today.

Ok, I don't have a solution (or SH5 for that matter). But this is too funny to be able to resist a little spam:
I think Ubisoft has setup us the bomb!

All your ports are belong to us!
I think that should be singular, i.e. "All your port are belong to us", given that in the original they incorrectly used "base" instead of "bases".
Sorry. Working on my Master's degree in Pedantry.

Judging from some of the replies in this thread I may have already hooked a couple of big ones!

I've already posted a solution on multiple threads...seems nobody is reading.

We are reading, but harbour structures to me means the 3D harbour objects, not the icons on the Nav map. Are they one in the same?

Yes, that's what I meant also. But it also applies to any disappearing item (may it be 3d item or 2d icon).
The process (SH5) just runs out of virtual memory after prolonged playing time, so enabling the 3GB switch will allow processes to use more than 2GB virtual memory (which is the limit for win32 systems).

The problem is that this isn't intermittent. The port icons have just vanished completely. The ports are still there on the map, the structures are there in the 3D world, it's just the icons that have vanished. And it's not a question of virtual memory as it happens after a fresh re-boot of the pc with nothing else but critical systems running (and 3 gb of ram on board).

It may be a MOD issue, because those icons are taken from a .mis file which a mod might have modified.
