View Full Version : Force H

I just started the med campaign, and as a first mission I chose the one to hunt the force H, since it's the mission with the earliest end date.
I've been running around for the whole nightm and could find nothing else than dido and kent battlecruisers, that obviously don't count. No battleship at all, and goodness, i looked everywhere. I also looked in the locations included in some threads here. Nothing. Still getting only didos and Kents.
Any advice on where to find those stoopid battleships, since it doesn't even allow me to end my patrol until i complete that silly objective?
The only thing I'm wondering is if I'm too early. It's the end of march (march 24 1941), anyone knows how to check the campaign file to see since when they're supposed to spawn?
Seriously, I hate those Didos and Kents... their tonnage is ridiculously low, making them as useful as targets as destroyers (which means zero). Also, I wonder where the supplies for malta are passing, since i find absolutely no merchantships around. The one that designed this particular part of the campaign must have been seriously drunk.
Ramblings aside, if anyone can give me some help, i'd be grateful. After 6 hours of absolute frustration i'm just about ready to revert to SH3.

I did never found the force H or merchants heading to or from Malta. Completely boring campaign...

I did, and looked into those locations over and over. No result at all.
before giving the usual, slightly elitist and a bit trite answer "use the search function", you might as well actually read the whole post and notice when someone clearly wrote that he did, and had no positive results... Just saying... :o
I skipped this campaign just because of this, I had my warning from those who had the same difficulties. Anyway, here is all the intel about the campaign, including that mission: http://174.123.69.202/~subsimc/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166051
These mission should be eliminated or fixed sometime in the future by some mods. I lost the opportunity to do the Drumbeat campaign just because I was not able to find the 4 troop transport ship required in the Winston's Special mission from the Western Approaches campaign. I spent 4 month searching these 4 ships in patrols starting from UK down to South Africa, no luck.
Now I used the campaign selector mod, but somehow.. the whole east coast of US is in arctic dark, no sun in the middle of January, no matter if I'm in Florida or NY. This game is so badly scripted and bugged, you have to be a fanatic to keep play it :nope:

Unfortunately that was one of the threads i already found. I tried everything, from sitting in the locations shown from week on end to doing the same in every single task force node between gibraltar and Malta. No go.
I wonder if something is preventing them to spawn, because all I see are those damned didos and kents, all the time. I sunk like 30 already and it ceased to be fun after the 5th...

The Battle Group for the Force "H" mission initiates at Gibraltar. I patrolled the Strait of Gibraltar and found the Queen Elizabeth leaving the harbor. I sunk her (along with an Aircraft Carrier + some escorts) at 5° 26'W, 36° 03'N.
You can verify this origination info by going to your save games (C:\Users\*username*\Documents\SH5\data\cfg\SaveGa mes). Open the current mission's save game file (check the date and time of the save, and it will match the date/time that the folder was modified -- Must be saved in the MN campaign). Open the campaign.cfg file nestled in there somewhere and find the section at the end:
Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 6
The last line indicates:
FromNode=Gibraltar
Incidentally, if you get tired of fooling around with these battleships, but wish to continue on with the campaign, you can simply change the two "IsCompleted=false" to "IsCompleted=true", save the .cfg file, and reload the save game to show the status as complete.
