Hadn't played in awhile, so loaded up where I was in 42. I was around Truk looking for 3 convoys coming, never found them, got a flash that a CA, 2 transports and 4 DD's were at Madang Roads. Couldn't find the name, but had the coords, so head that way flank having two days to get there.

Right on time at Madang, lil north of Lae I get a contact. Had contacts and cams off, so took some time. They were going away and obvious had radar because DD's would leave the group coming back 6nms to chase me. Not being careful once I took two hits and got 30% damage. Water was heavy so stay submerged. They were near shore and stopped. Finally ID'ed two Aikaku Plane Carriers (spelling) of 14K tons. I seldom see these. I wait for dark.

That night they left and came right towards me. I fire 4 at the first one, how I messed up I don't know, but got one hit. Fired 2 at the next, also one hit. Did a end around, next setup almost all torp failures, one hit. Did another end around, but this time one Aikaku was missing from the group..but found him on sonar way west. DD's found me this time and worked me over to 60% damage, so I leave and go find the other one west alone going slow and sink it.

Out of torps I chase the first one and try some long range DG shooting being out of torps. I get several hits at 8500 yards, DD's chase me away. Lucky me it catches fire and sinks why I'm evading taking minor damage.

I head for Brisbane with severe damage. Using high TC as I pull into port..WHAM, more damage. Still 30nms from docking. I go to bridge and in a bad storm. Had sonar contact, but radar off to dock faster. Knew I had a contact, but saw nothing. I hit control N to clear to see what happened. A Kent Class was off starboard backing up...I'm sure I hit it in the storm.

I sunk almost home....Guess what I didn't do that entire patrol that took about 6 hours...

It's that old love hate relationship we have with TC. I use to play dead is dead but not any more. I can't accept a loss a ship and lives due to TC. I now alternate between two saves on every patrol overwriting them as I go.
