I've got two questions.
1. Just started a campaign in 1940. First trip out, already sank a tanker and a large cargo. Now I'm hanging out SW of England and I've run across 4 Irish ships. Can I shoot at them or are they neutral?
2. There are sooooo many more ships in GWX. Are there any shortcuts that you can use for flipping through the ESB identification book?

2. Not that I know of.
P.S. The picture for number 1 is from the pulldown flag chart found in the upper left corner of the periscope view.

Eire remain neutral throughout the war and as HW3 has alreasdy stated, the pulldown flag recognition chart is your best means of a quick reference guide.

If you are going to manually id your target by comparing it to the id manual, then no-you have to page thru it.
If you have your weapons officer id it for you, click on the identified target's name on the notepad and it will bring up the appropriate page of the id manual and you can read the info on the ship.
Hope that answered your question.
Welcome aboard! :salute:

on a related note, is the a PDF of the notepad that can be printed?
would be nice to be able to sort it all out between ship type and countries, because it gets kind of silly to flip through 20 dds to get to the bbs :P
Hi,
these two links might help avoiding the in-game recog. manual:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1201
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1611
You just look for the ship in the pdf manual and then choose the correct mast height in the in-game manual.

Can somebody mod the wooden lifeboat mod to become crates of Guinness?

They ship in tankers nowadays but doubtful 70 years ago. According to Guinness website exports were limited during war and ceased completely in '44, and in Dec '39 they sent every member of the BEF a bottle to have with their Christmas dinner! :woot:

SS Cato sunk in Bristol Channel with barrels of the stuff, hit a mine apparently, I think Bernard had itchy trigger finger.
