2 girls arrested for marketing stunt at FIFA WC

In monday's Netherlands-Denmark match, 36 Dutch female supporters, disguised as Danish supporters, took off their Danish attire halfway during the match, revealing orange Bavaria dresses.
Despite the fact that these particular dresses barely have any Bavaria marketing on them, and as such only have a meaning for Dutchmen who already know the dresses, they were immediately taken out of the stadium and arrested.
Two of them now face charges of up to 6 months prison:nope:

Great action by Bavaria BTW, if the FIFA hadn't got those girls arrested, nobody would have paid any attention. Now that it's all over the Dutch news and stuff, Bavaria has got all the marketing they could wish for. All costs: 36 flight/match tickets and 1 fine:)

BTW, it's not the first time Bavaria has some hugely fantastic but illegal marketing stunt. My personal favorite is their response to a certain Heineken commercial:

In essence, a small company has no chance of advertising through FIFA World cup because they just can't financially compete with a giant company like Budweiser when it comes to bidding.

No, its simple business. Fifa is selling something, Bavaria wanted to obtain the service Fifa sells without paying them for it.

If you are selling exclusive rights you are selling exclusive rights. If you are selling primary rights you are selling primary rights. Its all fair and is market competition.

That is business I'm afraid.

FIFA own the competition and are milking it for as much as they can get.

It is the same at any major sporting event as far as I am aware.

I hope Bavaria do the right thing for those girls or the negative impact on their image could be extremely costly.

The girls knew they were gonna get thrown out of the stadium. Bavaria knew the girls were gonna get thrown out of the stadium. Bavaria knew they'd very likely get fined.
And that's where the sheer ingeniousness of this act lays. If the FIFA hadn't done anything, nobody would have noticed. I mean, those dresses don't even have the Bavaria logo prominently displayed (it doesn't even show in all videos I've seen). Now, because the FIFA goes in against the marketing stunt, they are essentially marketing Bavaria themselves:DL

These girls should have thrown out of the stadium. Bavaria should be fined. That's all part of the plan.
But 6 months in prison for those girls?! This is a huge case of shooting the messenger.
