If a Niche market sim could be made by a small dev like this (Ship Simulator 2010)
http://www.spike.com/video/ship-simulator-2010/3230280
Or this small dev house that has VERY accurrately simulated the Space Shuttle (along with 30+ missions from pre-liftoff procedures to landing)
http://www.space-shuttle-mission.com/
(space shuttle mission is VERY COOL and almost as engrossing as GWX!)
Then I see no reason why a Subsim wont eventually be picked up by a small dev house when UBI vacates SH series corpse...

I hope you're right.
He is, ...and we will look back someday and laugh at how we once put Silent Hunter on such a pedestal.
Give it time...

Faamechanic, sims like Ship Simulator just remind me of why I'm so pissed at Ubi. That game is so bad that it makes Silent Hunter feel like a Microprose simulation. It just rubs salt to imagine what SH could've been for cadets and seafarers if Ubi just took that extra step.
To be honest, so far Ship Simulator has been pretty much BS. Very small maps, no navigation whatsoever (even in Silent Hunter you can tell latitude and longitude), it does feature mooring lines and anchors but no option to reel them in or give slack. Even Ports Of Call feels more realistic. The Pro version seems more featured but not by much. I'm keeping an eye out on this 2010 one, MAYBE it's worth the bucks. :ping:

I'm not "feeling the rush" at 1 FPS...
But Train simulator looks oddly soothing...

Check out the second link to the Space Shuttle Sim that I posted. It was developed with a small group of Devs (less than 10 I would bet).
You can even download a free demo that lets you fly the very first shuttle mission.
This again is proof that a small dev house can take a dream and make it a reality, and make a profit (the Shuttle Sim has been around since 2006-07 with regular content updates, bug fixes, and dozens of new missions released, all of which were FREE OF CHARGE).

Yea, I myself hope a small group of developers start a new game for submarines. I would perfer this because no stupid company would be saying RELEASE IT NOW!!! or This wont sell, Its not arcade enough, you will burn a hole in little Timmy's mind.
