Couple of things happended recently which I was wonder if other had experienced.

1. Sneeked into Rabul Harbour and stuck a mark 14 into an old Frieghter. Down it went till it was sitting on the sea bed of the Harbour only the top on the bridge showing. Now call me old fashioned but ins't that sunk ?

Apparently not two more Mk 14 sent to run deep so they deint go over the top of the sunk !!! ship need before I got the kill.

Is this a glitch or is the game clever enough to say with only one hit I may be sat on the Harbour bottom but i could be salvaged ?

2. Did a long patrol re-fitting at the Sub Tender near guadacannal 4 or 5 times. Eventually went back to Brisbane to end patrol and water plants in the office with 263,000 tons racked up but with no outstanding damage to the boat. On arrival message to the effect of everone ammazed you made it, shame the boats a right off, Admiral not to pissed off here's your new command you have no choice.

Is this normal ? and what has triggered it

I had that happen to me in an S-boat but of course i came crawling into port with 98% hull damage after sinking an escort carrier and managing to lose the DD's

anyway i understood why they couldn't fix my S-boat but yours? that's odd.
And another thing i just figured that the game allowed a Hit Point bonus to ships docked at port. not realistic at all. Never thought of it as they could be salvaged.

The USA rasied most of the Battleship "sunk" at Pearl harbour becsue they were just sitting on the bottom in shallow water with the mast above the water level. Fix the holes and pump them out. I'd like to think the game is that clever

make sure you hit things in harbor on both fore and aft extremes to ensure a "balanced" sinking. otherwise it will just sit there like a puddle-duck. another problem with shallow water for a submarine.

if you dont see a notification in the dialogue window, or see a record of it in captain's log, then you didn't quite get the job done.

I would have to agree with you on that. If they are in shallow water with just a few holes, they are not technically sunk. But, if you hit a magazine or engine and cause it to blow up, then it would be finished. Like the USS Arizona.

Basically the game isn't reading the ship sunk due to not enough flooding with the deck going below. In shallow water you sink them more based on damage points, so you can waste a lot of torps on a ship. If you can, get back out of gun range depending on what mod and hit it with some gun shells...that being no moving escorts are nearby. If so, just got a spread the torps and use more of them.

Some people call that a bug (Even I considered it one for a long time), but what R4222 said does make a good point, maybe we shouldn't be upset about it because if the ship was not destroyed, the Japs could technically raise them like the Americans did at Pearl.
