Only answer I can think of is battery backup. You can get them for $30 or less.

Yeah man, i know that there is little to be done.

Just decided to vent and see if its happened to anyone else. I can laugh about it, but boy it was painful when it happened. The lights didn't even stay off, they just flickered long enough to shut down the computer. :wah:

Besides, once in awhile I think we need a complaint thread that does not blame UBI,Modders or Subsim. :haha:

Agreed. One day a long time ago I was working on a project and forgot the three rules: Save, save, and save one more time. And I knew there was a thunderstorm outside, but didn't think about it until all my work got lost in a shutdown. I know your pain.

But my next investment after that was a battery thingie. I've never lost anything since.

One day, I had spent about four or five hours (real time, some of it with the game paused while doing other things) working my way into a perfect setup on a convoy I sighted right before going to bed the night before. I decided I'd wait until I was rested before going in to take a poke at it. Made it to a really good position, slipped past the escort screen, and waited for just the right moment.

When the power flickered, the wife's computer didn't even seem to notice. Kept right on chugging along. My computer, with my unsaved game, that had been waiting all night and half the day... :dead:

I then got to spend some time explaining to the wife why I was banging my head on the desk.

That reminds me, a few weeks ago my Fiancee said and i quote
"why do you sit there and play that game? I don't understand it and it's so boring."

It took some serious bribery but i finally got her to sit here and play for a while... that turned into all night. Found her yelling at a burning DD on the screen "Whoo's your mummy now tin can?!"

She loves the Narwhale now and i had to copy all my data to her computer so she can play too.

oh its happened once or twice, luckily i learned to save just before i make a move to attack, so usually dont lose too much, but it took a couple times of power flickering out to get me to save.

Battery backups and saving you stuff is a well and good, but there is nothing yet devised that can protect your perfect convoy set up from annihilation by teenagers hellbent on updating their facebook. "Sorry! Like, don't get ,like, so totally flipped out, Dad. It's, like, only a game!"

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!:damn:

Ha. Only a game!? Tell the tyke that he sleeps well because you are guarding the Pacific from a sneak attack by the Japs. We know they are out there...out there waiting...waiting...waiting to strike.

As a good friend of mine once told his kids: "You know, I could have you killed and make another one just like you - AND HAVE FUN DOING IT!"

My philosophy is that laughter is better than anger. :03::O::yeah:

If you're angry, you can always annoy your neighbor...

You are so luck, man! Most women and even most men don't have the patience for these sub sims. You must be a hell of a teacher. Or maybe she saw a way to share your world. Women are like that. :)

When you're a Dad, like me, you'd have to buy one for the xbox, and one for the son's PC, and one for your own... hey! Father's Day !

It's an excuse to get one and only one.:salute:

That is true, I as yet have to find a woman that could understand the thrill of a sim. :nope:

You should have seen the way her eyes lit up after the half hour or so of coaching i gave her (and coffee) to get into position and then wham she nailed a DD and a split merchant!

My lil fox has a hidden talent.:D
