So Jim, what does your bookie say?:hmmm:

My bookie says England are 8/15 favourites to win, 3/1 the draw and 11/2 for USA to win.

Looking at the two bore draw games played thus far I'm thinking maybe another draw but if there is to be a winner, England should do it by the odd goal.

Okay, here you go:

England: Surging ahead to the 19th Century

For nearly 200 years, England ruled over 500 million people on six continents - a time in which it was commonly said that the sun never set on the British Empire. Today, however, the sun sets on the British Empire at 20:00 hrs GMT.

Although the world around them has advanced remarkably, England still holds fast to the antiquated traditions of its glorious past. Royal guards still protect the Queen (ELizabeth II) even though she is only a figurehead and may in fact be animatronic. The people still eat crumpets, and are very particular about their tea.

The English people pine for the days when any son of a king could grow up to be a king -when girls were girls and boys were women and other nations didn't have boats.

At the height of its power, the British Empire had access to the most brilliant minds, the most beautiful artwork, and the most important cultural artifacts in the world, which they promptly stole, boxed, and locked away in the musty old cellar of Buckinham palace, never to be seen again. They also developed the cultural idea of marching into other places and declaring them to be British.

The citizens of the Empire would like to dispute the stereotype that they are all overly polite, but refuse to bring up the subject for fear they will cause a stir. They are also known for their extremely English sense of humour (and spelling). British people will laugh at anything said in a dry, monotonous tone of voice, as evidenced by their #1 rated comedy program, The BBC World News.

The power of Britain began to wane in the latter half of the 19th century, mostly because Britain's foreign policy consisted of a gianted armored ship whose name meant "fear nothing", but which turned out to be quite afraid of sharply curtailed military spending. Britain played a leading role in both world wars, and pioneered the revolutionary military tactic of asking America for help when knee-deep in Germans. Other notable military achievements include suddenly deciding that the communists would make great allies. It's true, just ask Poland.

Britain has a long and glorious history, and its greatest achievement, the fact that it isn't France, continues to influence the world to this day.

That's what you get when you tax my tea, you bastards!:DL

Oh...so true, so sadly true. :yep:

Anyway, my bet is 2-1 to England but probably quite a scrape. It normally takes us about three games to actually get our act together, usually just in time to get thrashed by Brazil or Germany.
France this year seems to have imploded apparently, unless they're suffering from England syndrome too. :hmmm:

Correct :DL

The passion for football in the north east and especially Newcastle is second to none in the UK.

Starved of success and trophies since 1969 doesn't dent the fact most teams in the UK look upon Toon attendance figures with envy.

Despite the fact Newcastle were playing in the second highest division last season (having just been relegated from the premiership) we still had the 4th highest average attendance in the country.

We bounced straight back to the premiership this year so I don't envisage any change in that department :DL

The Firm doesn't travel well these days, they seldom if ever leave London....none of them do.

Millwall average attendance last season 10834 (less than 25% of Newcastle).
