will a ballistic missile short or medium range be trailing similar amount of smoke? :hmmm:
Probably a little bit less I'd say Castout because a shuttle launch has two booster rockets whereas an ICBM, IRBM or TBM would only be one rocket, but not much I'd have thought.
Here's a Minuteman III going up for comparison:

I have witnessed a shuttle launch a couple of times and by far aside from the sound is the towering colums of smoke.
Its as if god himself was pulling a string of smoke out of the ground.

:yep: It's a lot of thrust. Quite ironic considering the actual payload is not much bigger than a car, heck, one single MIRV warhead in the 300-400 kiloton region is about the height of a man. Still, have to get it up into the optimum re-entry position.

People are fun like that:yeah: No worries though, Oberon. Nuclear overkill is largely a myth. It would only work if everyone on the planet conveniently gathered into unsheltered circular areas to await missile strikes. In the event of a nuclear war, much of the planet's populace would likely survive, at least for a while. :DL
