View Full Version : The US Navy of 1915
This is very good. Lots of submarine footage.

Interesting.
To me it is always strange when I realise that each and every person I see in a video is already dead. Makes you think about how short life actually is.:-?

Yeah, I feel the same way when I watch old war footage. The one that really gets to me is the one showing thousands of German prisoners straggling off into the distance after they surrendered at Stalingrad. Hard to imagine what kind of horrible journey they endured and how so few eventually made it back to Germany.

LOL
when i first watched the first couple of minutes i thought "Damn! those WW1 boats had some serious speed!"
then i remembered
Films back then were shot at higher rates of speed... so everything moves fast in them.

You know they're travelling at speed when you can see the skipper water skiing at the aft end :DL

It is the other way around. They were shot at a slower speed (16-18 frames per second). When played on modern equipment (24 frames per second) the movement seems faster.
