What is the largest amount of contacts at sea you've ever run into, not in port and including planes. Simply, the largest battle that really slows you down.

I think for me it's the battle of Leyte, but before Kurita heads into the San Bern Straits. Per history, the US sent many planes to attack the Center Force I think the 24th. If you head west out of the straits before the Center Force enters you can watch the planes attack it.

You have the Center Force, around 100 planes off and on all day, dozens of downed pilots. I have a decent rig for SH4 and my PC comes to a halt during the plane attacks. I can barely set up.

Still it's a fun battle when your PC can catch up, even with 4mgs of ram and a Athlon 64 X2 6000+ and nvid 260, it stutters, but fun taking out the Yamato as planes attack it in mass and then pick up all the downed pilots.

The biggest thing I've run into and I do mean run into was way back in stock 1.4.

Flores Sea early 43 I think, no radar.
Sound picked up many contacts heading ESE at 9 knots. I was NE of them lining up a shot. 12 or so merchants and 6 escorts. Biggest convoy I'd seen in stock.

Sonar all the sudden started picking up warship contacts to the north of me heading ESE at 17 knots, they were just a little north of me. and about 2500 yards off the course of the convoy. 8 or 9 BBs and CAs with a dozen escorts.

Convoy in front, TF just behind. A quick 180° turn and I was all set up on the TF. Got two BBs, I drew a lot of attention from the escorts.

Big mistake I made was to also attack the convoy with my stern tubes.
Got two merchants down, don't remember what kind, but that also attracted all the convoy escorts as well, must have had 10 or more DDs after me at one point. There was one of those "Please take a number" things going on. Thank goodness for lame stock DDs. I got away.

If I remember right I had something like 38 sonar contacts all around me.
Not bad for stock game. Lost the SS due to a reformat of the system.
