What a great utility. I have three boats from the same flotilla working the same timeline in 1941.

For the fella who created it: Would it be possible to log and pinpoint a boat's location, sightings and claims directly on a map (add-on) when you close out and save? Has that been considered? Is it even do-able?

Currently I have a wall map and pins - rather good too. I took a photo of a historic kriegsmarine chart and sent it out to be posterized with a foam backing. Probably the best solution eh!

Some people are actually using Google Earth for that.:sunny:

Correct Steve, I am sure there is a thread(s) for this somewhere :yep:

Operation Spinnennetz (by Canovaro) Is good for tracking U-Boats, too. Especially since there are other u-boats on the map. Makes you feel.. less alone in the SH3 world.

One SS member (not me) uses what is usually called a 'white board' and re-decorates the surface for each new career.

Kinda fooling with this:

Pretty Impressive.

You download the viewer and then download all the maps i.e. U-boats lost, U-boats attacked, Ships sunk. Then open them into the viewer for a terrific data base of all activities. But best of all if you are registered member of uboat.net you can click on a button off the data and zoom into the website for even more data.

My object of interest was the HMS Edinburgh: http://uboat.net/allies/merchants/1579.html%20%20

I located it on the map, then clicked from the map to the website for more data.

Google Earth in satellite mode is a great idea! One can use different colored pins and insert all manner of data.

I've felt alone for whole careers until my last one, I seen a IXB chase down a convoy in a storm:)

If there were other U-boats out there, one could feel less vulnerable with escorts breathing down them too and allowing us to penetrate the picket line.

Just GWX3 I have 23 other mods active but they have nothing to do with adding subs

'Tis GWX that adds the AI stalkers. If you see a convoy on the map that is a circle instead of a square, it was reported by the u-boat that is shadowing it. He may not survive until you get there, but you never know...

The Spinnenetz chart, is great. Not only helps you find traffic, but leaves a record of your depredations. :D

Posted this a few days back in the Enigma Flotilla forum:

For kicks and giggles.. :D

Following up on JMV's (mad props to you for finding the thread and posting the overlay) question about tracking your boat on Google Earth, and after some trial and error...

I present, a first draft for a map overlay and after action report from U-108s battle with a small convoy a few days back.

Beware, however, that the picture resolution is roughly 3000x5000..

Besides the usual typos ( :shifty: ) I am quite happy with it, and I am on my thrid patrol now tracking and taking notes in Google Earth.
