First of all...Ahoy there to everyone here at Subsim :salute:

I usually post on UBi's forum but have not been on there since a week or so after SH5's release due to reading almost EVERY post that expressed the fact that SH5 was basically garbage, so I have avoided it this time and have still not yet purchased it.

I have bought and played every other SH sim since SH1, way back in the late 90's and thouroughly enjoy the whole concept of virtual sub warfare...as a PC game you can't beat it.

I have been sourly dissapointed at not wanting to purchase SH5 because of its present state mess :down:

However I think it is now time for some advice on my possible purchase of this sim.

Would I be right in thinking that after I install the sim, I then install Ubi's patch v1.2. Would I then immediately install the mods on this forum that hopefully rescue the garbage to make it a playable?

So what I need to know...

Do the mods now rescue SH5 to a decent game?
Are all the mods on this forum compatible with V1.2 patch?
What mods will I definately need to install from this forum?
and is there any order of mod installation?

Your general opion of SH5 with mods installed.

Yes, it's entirely playable with mods (even without, just not as cool).

I have played previous Silent Hunters, and I think with the right mods that SH5 is actually really good. Maybe not better than SHIII as a whole, but more mods come out everyday, so I am confident that it will eventually be, at least one of the best subsims ever.

There are a lot, but many are very small. Here I explain what each does. The bolded entries are "major" mods, while the rest are usually a small handful of files to change a few graphical things.

ConvoyInterceptPractice_by_kylania - Single Player Mission to intercept a radio contact convoy 35km away
RemoveLogoIntroTheDarkWraith - 0 byte files to remove the intro videos
Accurate German Flags - 4 images to restore historical flags
AilWhiteInterior 1.0 - Changes the interior walls to white to brighten things up
AttackScopeWire1.0 - add twisty thing to attack periscope
BARF + increased flooding time - major mod that changes how merchant ships flood and sink
Capthelms SH5 Audio Mod - a few additional or changed sound files
Church's SHV 1.01 Keyboard Commands v1.1 - SH3 style key mapping
Damage assessment - mod that makes damaged ships slow down, part of BRF
Danevangs PS 1.0 Common VIIC Shadow Maps - required shadow files for the VIIC skin

I have copy n pasted this vital info list into notepad for easier reference.

I have now ordered SH5 from Amazon. Only thanks to the modders that have saved and made this sim...again...again...and again. :rock:

Well you carnt have magic level 4 soup without special purple steam , it just doesnt look right .

Have you manually spliced files to make some of the mods compatible? Or do you simply install them in a particular order?
