Is there a "quick(er)" way to do this....currently I set speed to standard and just click on the compass.

.....and right/left full rudder! Just watch your compass.

If you go to flank the time to turn will be less but the turn will take the same distance. All you can do is full rudder. Be nice if you could use engines to assist a turn but you can't.

You could try back full or emergency with full rudder,

I miss by good ole Type VIIC in SH3-she could turn on a dime compared to these monster US fleet boats. :salute:

Surely some of you other captains use the reverse gear, especially when its raining DC's, It really messes with the escorts :03:

Use it all the time. What I've been doing lately is when using bow tubes I back out, can get farther away faster. After I get away a bit put about 15º rudder and slowly turn around. Works good. I haven't heard a depth charge in the last two patrols. I in late 44 so am being very careful.

Yes. That's true with rudder in the game. I find with diving it doesn't matter what speed you're going. I'm actually in the habit of hitting 2/3 after crash diving and the sub still dives in 30 seconds.
