Meh.. its 1,500 watts your hair dryer draws more current.

I prefer AMD to Intel. I prefer ATI to Nvidia graphics cards. I wouldn't know what to do with 2 Terrabytes of storage. I'm not impressed by all the bells and whistles. Bigger isn't always better.
So...
I'm busy opening up as many email accounts as I can Gotta have that thing!:D

Ain't it the truth? :haha:
Wouldn't know what to do with all that either, maybe split it into 2 separate systems, but it's a great toy.

I think the best thing to do with this computer is to solve cancer by folding at home.

Or play Crysis and any other high performance demanding game at once. Hell, it has three monitors, you can play 3 seperate games. :haha:

Good chances that whoever wins this isn't going to use it for anything demanding. I highly someone who only uses computers for facebook/email winning it. :haha:

Truth to tell, if I did win it I'd sell it for as much as I could get and then buy as much computer as I actually needed.

If that kind of processing power met with less than 50 Watt of power requirement then it's my dream thing. Right now it's a monster in both processing power and electrical bill. A sort of brutal solution to achieving raw power.
I mean most of time I'm using my PC not for gaming anyway at least not before ArmA 2 came along. It's just stupid to power all those devices when what you do is mostly typing or browsing :haha:.
11 grand PC....nuts.
I dream of rig with growing hard disk space(bio storage) and growing RAM too, with a pre-installed AI whom I can talk to, very fast processing speed(both graphics and programs) with a peak load temperature of the room's. At idle the rig would actually cool down to a temp lower than the ambient room temperature. All that with a power requirement of less than 50 Watt and comes with self charging bio battery that ideally could keep the rig going indefinitely without being plugged into any power source. . . . Ummmmm . . . .and it's no longer a two state machine in terms of processing mechanism but encompassing all the characters that mankind have ever known of.

We'll probably have giant space-cruisers in orbit before that happens though. :hmmm:

Exactly. Think most people would do the same. :yep:
Maybe just sell 2 of the cards, and use the money to swap out the motherboard to a decent SLI one, with i7 CPU. Sell of half the memory as well, got a killer rig and some spare cash.

I know one thing for sure, if I owned this computer and didn't sell it's parts, I'd definitely get it insured.

Ya know, I heard that these 480s actualy perform worse when you have quad SLI, its better in tri...:yep:

I've heard that most tri-sli(rhymes) boards, don't really run all cards at 16x, but have to drop one or even two into x8. So I guess the same would apply for this board.

:)
Currently the max number of channels you'll find in the top-tier X-58 chipset is 36, which results in 16x/8x/8x (tri) or 8x/8x/8x/8x (quad). So no matter if you have 3 or 4, same number of lanes is used. Improvement with 4th card is minor at best, if it exists at all.
Even the top Nvidia chips won't give you more than 3 x16 slots, but more typically it's 16x/16x/8x, or you get 2 x16 PCI-e 2.0 slots and 1 x16 PCI-e 1.1 slot. 1.1 has half the bandwith from 2.0, so it's the same as plugging it into a 8x 2.0 slot.
* it's a frickin rip-off, seriously. I remember when they started marketing memory kits as "SLI ready", while there is no connection at all between how many cards you have and what modules are installed.
