Nav map question

How can I get the blue/black lines of ships to become the red outlines? I don't know if there's a key you press. I ask to know where the escorts and merchants are in relation to my location.

In stock you don't get the red outlines till you have them in visual range or on radar.
With any of the big mods you only get black dots, no outlines.

The location of the contact is at the end of the blue or black line.
Measure that line will give you an approximate range.
Mark an X and time three minutes and mark again and you will get speed.
1 knot for each 100 yards, 500 yd. = 5 kn. 1000 yd = 10 kn.
Extend the line and you have the course of the contact. 2/3 of your firing solution already done.
