I wonder, will there be two versions of the movie? One Paragon, one Renegade? :DL
Please don't let it turn into Star Wars...

Bah, game-based movies always suck...
And what is wrong with Star Wars?!

Oh dear god, please keep Uwe Bowl FAR FAR FAR freaking away from this franchise.

What isn't wrong with Star Wars? The news ones that is ;)
Sounds interesting, but you know how these kinds of movies go... We'll see how it turns out I guess.

Hah, don't worry I also like Star Wars.
But I hope there's more than hey-look-cool-biotic-effects-going-all-over-the-screen. The choices were the real fun side and I'm wondering how they're going to deal with that.
@Raptor1 to quote those on gamesradar.com
"If Mass Effect can’t be made into a good movie, no game can"
So, did I get this right: They want to make a movie that centers around pretty much the same plot as the games do except you can't make own choices that will affect the plot and everything is packed into a 2-3hr movie instead of an 100+ hour game series.
Tell me, who was the genius who though this would be a good idea?

At least it has better chances than the Asimov's Foundation movie, which is to be directed by the guy who made Independence Day and Godzilla...

What are you talking about? Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat were both awesome movies :D:o:doh::zzz:

Oh gods Mortal Kombat. I had high hopes for that one. Tombraider was good.
:O:
I liked MK.
and street fighter...

If a movie is to be done about Mass Effect
it should be done like this :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLhptv1yYMU

Again, just as long as this guy:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uwe_Boll
Is not involved!
If you see a movie with his name stamped on it, you know its going to suck, even by Sci Fi channel standards. He's infamous for crappy game to movie translations.

I dont want Bay directing it either. The guy ruined Transformers.
It could be good or bad, I'm going to hold my breath for a good game movie for once. Someone let me know how Prince of Persia turns out, I'm avoiding it because I love the Sands trilogy and I dont want it ruined.

Honestly, i always thought of Mass effect as more of an interactive movie or a 3d rendition of a choose your own adventure book. So i dont see a movie translation being impossible to do in this case.
edit:
and yeah, no Micheal "explosions" Bay either!

meh I'm still waiting for a Half Life movie.
And Bioshock which seems to have put on semi permanent hold after Gore Verbinski dropped it
And Uncharted which should be coming out in the near future.... :yep:

Being a video game movie it will probably suck, but being set the the "ME Universe" will at least give it the potential not to.
I hope they stay away from the game plots completely. Game fans would feel put off if the screen Shepard is very different from "their" Shepard. Something focusing more on the human discovery of Prothean tech and the First Contact War would steer them clear of that, and leave lots of room for it to become a movie franchise if the first is successful.

That would be the best way to go, I think. Avoid both games' plots and explore more of the ridiculously detailed universe BioWare invented.
And there had better be some decent ship-to-ship combat!

Silent Hill is a good movie, almost matched perfectly to the game series.

Except for the 2 zillion stupid things it had. :DL

Only thing they captured was the atmosphere. Hearing the airraid siren always triggered some panic in the game, got the same vibe in the movie.

Didn't it also has the creepy theme music? :hmmm:

It has the first 15 seconds of SH1 theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EN-_1OGtUY) at the beginning, other than that I don't know if the music is the same or similar, been a long time since I played SH.
Don't think the music is remarkable, but it fits with the scenes.
Ya, that one. The beginning is the only part I like about the track. :DL Always reminds me of the old witch from SH1.
