Wahoo:
Wahoo was never heard from again after departing Midway on 13 September 1943, although she is known to have sunk a Japanese ship in the Sea of Japan near the Straits of Tsushima on 5 October 1943. Japanese information indicates that she was possibly sunk by aircraft attack on 11 October 1943 while passing through La Perouse Strait on her way out of the Sea of Japan.

This is interesting: something to add to TMO?

Nice find! :yeah:
I scanned thru some of the different reports.
The one concerning the USS Tang is pretty chilling. It gives quite a bit of detail about the attempted escape by the crew from the forward torpedo room after she sank.

What a tragic way to go. 13 ships sunk for 107,324 tons on that patrol and that circular running torpedo had to ruin everything. It's strange how things work out in life.:dead:
Another fact of total war:
When the nine survivors were picked up by a destroyer escort, there were victims of Tang's previous sinkings on board, and they inflicted tortures on the men from Tang. With great humanity, O'Kane states, "When we realized that our clubbings and kickings were being administered by the burned, mutilated survivors of our own handiwork, we found we could take it with less prejudice."

Now THAT is a really intimidating strait! No wonder they got tagged.

Yes. I wonder what range that hydrophone had?

would be great if someone could add this in to work with TMO, make La Perouse Strait a bit more difficult to enter/exit
