Hey ppl,

I found Sonar Ping and Sonar Pong in Command.cfg.. I remapped them as usual and got nothing ingame.. is there like the one on US boats?? that would save us a lot of trouble with the stadimeter...

As far as I'm aware, there was one on the German subs. However it was rarely used for fear of giving away position/revealing presence. To be honest I probably wouldn't use it in game anyway. Its a surefire way of making them know your there!

However, If its in the CFG files it's probably in the game engine somewhere, I've heard that alot of SH5 is just copy/pasted SH4 with added bells and whistles!

I see a LOT of unused entries in the command.cfg file such as search patterns, so maybe the presence of something in a CFG file isn't as good an indication of some cool features being in the game as we'd like to hope. As I've hinted at elsewhere, I suspect 99% of development of SH5 has gone into the eye-candy renderer engine than the much-needed evolution and improvement of gameplay mechanics and accuracy :)

Range estimation wasn't a feature of U-boat sonar until the advent of the XXI, and even then the technology wasn't completely ready by war's end.
