Please keep this one clear of bad vibes, Im trying to manouver around the minefield called SH5 with an idea. I hope that those who respond can do it in a mature way and on topic....

To kinda beat most of the OT things....

France got the best dames.....

US makes the best engines..

Russia makes the best MC (Ural fanatic here) :haha:

China got the cheapest labour...

Belguim createt fries...

Sweeds eats rotten fish...

Cuba makes the best cigars....

Denmark is the best country in the world and have by far the best beer...

No one ever won any wars....only way to win a war is not fighting it....

That covered abit of the normal OT thingys:har:

here are the serius part....

************************************************** *

Loads of posts all over about yes or no, skipp it or love it no more support for the game etc....

SH III to 5 all needed modders love. Why do people love SH III because of UBI or because of GWX :06:

Personaly i think if we make a bug repport that only involves problems that need to get fix in the hard code and simply accept (like it or not) that the rest will be up to the modders....:shifty:

There are isues in SH5 that need fixing in the hardcode, let us make a combined bug repport on that send in by the heavy modders...:know:

Im sure that this would be the midt path to go. The devs dont have to use 3 months fixing every little bug around and the modders will have a better foundation to work on. Every ones dream is the open code and "full acces" why not try to work with the devs on this to get a solution that would work in both ends...:yeah:

Im sure that if Neal can get a bug team toghter that starts to have constructive communications with the devs everyone would benefit...

This is not how it should be. But no one wins anything with sour tungs and stinky brainfarting...:nope:

Why not sit down as a community and se how we as fanbase and subbers can work with the modders instead of fighting them....If your met with a bad attitude at your job, you mirror that, why not start a thread where the hardcoded problems are descibed, where solutions can be sujestet in a technical manner....and where the modders can shine toghter with the devs....:know:

I realy hope that someone will try to do what i have asked for here.....Im sure Neal have the contacts, the community have the modders, give the devs and modders a place to speak there language in privacy and let them work, work for us as fans of the series and the devs work for regaining the trust...

Sorry about all that above, but i just dont think we get anything if we keep up shouting and complaining.....ī:wah:

Neal please, let us wash the board clean, let us work with them...let us be the ones that reach out...then its up to them to show us what they want...:salute:

And no i dont think this is imposible, but it have to be the right ones and a trustet by the community bigga boss...:arrgh!:

I assure you that developers know the game and its lacks and bugs better than anybody. They not need our help to fix the game. They really need time and money to get the game finished. The problem is, the game is not finished. The problem is Ubi. How do we fix Ubi? I donīt know.

After the fun.

@L.T:

Good post.
Have patience; mods will come. Still today SH3 modders are finding solutions for old problems. Sooner or later I hope many of the SHV bugs (and lack of inmersion) will be fixed.

Just reading the patch info on this game made me think about how UBI, and many PC game makers, should be with the community. maybe skim but make sure you read the last line:

It seems like a very long time indeed since Terran Conflict Update 2.5 arrived and for hard-core players of the game it's probably been too long! Don't worry though - the wait is now over and we can assure you that your patience will be rewarded. Every time we thought we were ready to release Update 2.6, another feature came along which was too irresistable to leave out.

Update 2.6 features the long-awaited New Home missions, which promises to be quite an adventure for those who like their THINK missions. This project has been developed by members of our own community and after a period of testing and evaluation is ready to be shared with the wider Terran Conflict-playing world.

Terran Conflict Update 2.6 also brings the introduction of Steam Achievements. We have been working with our partners at Valve and Steam to bring the achievement system to Terran Conflict and once again members of our own DevNet Community have been instrumental in their development and testing. Those of you who don't play the game through Steam need not worry about being left out. With Update 2.6, we are pleased to announce that all users with a valid registration key for the DVD version of X3: Terran Conflict will be able to register with Steam and download that version (http://www.egosoft.com/support/faq/faq_answer_en.php?answer=1633) of the game FOR FREE! You too will then be able to enjoy the benefits of Steam gaming, including Achievements.

One other feature that our work with STEAM has made possible will soon be available to players of that version. Although it hasn't been possible to include it in this Update, we are pleased to announce that in a coming update STEAM players will be able to choose a Dead-is-Dead (http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=271406) gamestart, which takes advantage of STEAM technology. Keep an eye out for that!

Concurrent with the release of Update 2.6 is the long-awaited arrival of the X3: Terran Conflict Bonus Pack. This favourite fixture of previous X titles will offer some of your favourite script plugins, developed by members of the community and which have also undergone rigorous testing and our robust 'script signing process'. Among the more popular scripts to be made available in the Bonus Pack are the Commercial Agent and the Commodity Logistics Software.

Update 2.6 not only introduces new features. As is the norm, a lot of work has gone into addressing some of the issues that have been brought to our attention, such as issues with sector traders, the missing wares for sale at the Goner Temple, weapon information displays for ships with only missile turrets and also some missions have been tweaked. We have also made some improvements to graphics rendering which should give an increase in game performance.

As always we'd like to thank our loyal army of community members, testers and volunteer developers for their contribution to making this Update the success we hope it will be.

I like how modders are referred to as volunteer developers because that is essentially what they are.

Anyway, itd be cool if thats how patchnotes looked from all game makers. (ahem excluding the whole steam only now thing im sure that pissed some people off)

Sorry for off-topic, but it's not really Steam only. Well, it is, but you can use your key from retail to get a free Steam copy. Takes a while to DL the game of course, but if you really want the achievements (seriously, why?), they can be had.

And yes, Egosoft is an excellent example of how to work with the community to make a better product.

@ L.T

There is a forum that is working with anyone interested in
Modding SH5.

It's not a 'Team' effort.
But a 'Group' effort.

Anyone that wishes may join and do what they want.
Even if it's just watching how modders work together.
If the Dev's wish to join?
It's as open to them as it is to anyone else.

Feel free to drop in if you wish.
:)
