When I first got SH4,I got sick of the program crashes and I also had to learn the hard way that not all mods play nicely together:shifty:.

But now I'm in love with SH4 (running current version of TMO and RSRD):salute::yeah:

I've gone around 15 patrols w/o any crashes,
....until last night:shifty::stare::dead:

I was returing home after an awesome patrol (I sank around 8 ships), and as I hit the return to port button....

The program ceased to function and crashed to desktop:damn::damn::damn::damn::damn::damn::damn: ~40k tonnage, down the drain, 2 hours of my evening, down the drain.

The only positive thing, I saved the game early on when I had a convoy alert, but I was unable to find the convoy.:-? So I get another crack at finding the convoy.

This kinda stuff used to happen all the time, but not as much now with only the 2 mods.

Yes, with mods, simplicity is the key. I run TMO, RSRD, a keyboard layout modifier, sometimes some mission files and some sub skins. That's it. Yes, mod soup gets everyone. Even with a simple setup, if you've tried other mods in the past it is possible for remnants to stick around and make your life miserable. Then you have to visit the How to Reinstall SH4 thread and clean out all the cobwebs to get back to a pristeen installation, reinstall your mods and continue the mayhem!:D

Save before the attack and save after the attack.

As soon as the last ship sinks, I hit the save button.

It "saves" me a lot of trouble. :yep:

That´s Karma :D

Sunk 30k on 1st patrol with my old trusted Pigboat. Decided to go home low on fuel with two fishes left.
In heavy waters I came across an Old raked bow freighter, a juicy target my last fishes.

The 1st one was a dud, the second....hm...the stopwatch was running and running...ok, a miss I think, but than....boooom ! :o

I was hit by my own torpedo which totally destroyed my boat. A "Kreisläufer" ( Don´t know the word in english right now) :o

Hell, I was so angry since I play DID which force me to start over. (RFB+RSRD)

I love this game.

And Niki jumps overboard swimming ashore giving up on the Silent Service. One crash too many....

As a result Niki was put in the brig for being AWOL. Never mind he became AWOL in the middle of the Pacific...somethings you just can not explain.

After serving his time and licking his wounds Niki was offered a new command. She was named aptly:

If I sink that many I will save just for that reason...crashes. I can honestly say that I have had maybe 5 total crashes since I have owned the game.

Actually, on a side note. Speaking of Blue water bostons, my puppy almost drown this weekend:o. The dummy was chasing seagulls (which I was encouraging;)) when he decieded to jump in. Now he's never swam before and the water was waaaaaaaay over his head. After watching him for a few seconds, I decieded that he wasn't swimming, but floundering:o, plus the current was pulling him away from shore. So in the Pacific I go. The scary part was, I didn't know how deep the water was going to be (sharp drop-off) i wade out to him, grab him, and who is behind me, Rocky Mcbee!:o (Mr. I-don't-go-in-ocean-water) He had jumped in right behind me to aide in the rescue:o. They both swim as well a stones:shifty:, so now I'm dragging 2 mcbees in! Now the punch line, I was NOT dressed to go swimming and had to cut the trip short to go into town and buy a change of clothes. I'll post the video on facebook.
