I should be feeling cocka-hoop about this victory in a final at last, after so many years of waiting but strangely I don't really feel much at all. I think it may be because the victory came so easily without any of the usual drama I associate with English cricket. England have looked the real deal in this tournamant without any sign of a weakness in any department and obviously my brain just can't comprehend with such a state of affairs.

I must snap out of this or I will be in danger of yearning for a return of the suffering endured back in the 90s. :88)

Lost by 7 wickets? You mean these:

That's pretty bloodly embaressing. They smelled the vegimite and the fear; the masacure ensued. I never knew Geordie cricketers were so cute and fuzzy.

I'd like to think so but my gut instinct keeps telling me that we have a nigh on consistent record for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in test cricket :hmmm:

STEED

Scrap the 20/20 rubbish and stick with the real Test Matches!

20/20 is just a bloody crass garbage to try to impress the riffraff, we don't need there sort polluting cricket.

Jimbuna
05-19-10, 10:07 AM
20 Twenty was introduced to generate money/sponsorship and because of the promise of a result in half a day (similar to football etc) it was hoped it would increase interest and crowd attendance.

My first preference is a test match (often hard to set aside 5 days), then secondly a 40/50 one day game.....but for sheer accelerated entertainment you can't beat the helter skelter of a 20 twenty ding dong.

Northern Pie choppers? Sounds intriging:hmmm:. I guess, I'll side with the side that has pies. Don't the Southerns have prince charles? Where will this great civil war take place?
And what about the those criminal southerns that were removed from the uk (see aussies) whose side will they take? And the hobbits, Indians, Pakistanis?

I remember the SECCW (subsim english cricket CW) like it was yesterday....

The great speech by one of subsim's greatest oraters, Rocky McBee, regarding the aftermath of the bloody battle at Newcastle Greene :
http://www.bostonterrierhub.com/images/boston_terrier_funny_carabou.jpg

oops, I mean:
http://i2.ytimg.com/i/iLE5kJjLD_TWu-C6EIsXmQ/1.jpg

Four score and seven minutes ago, our fathers brought forth this great sport, cricket, to occupy ourselves when we are not playing subsims or surfing naughty webpages.
Now we are engaged in this civil war regarding SHV, oops I mean, whose cricket team sucks more.
Now we met on this great battlefield, where Steed danced around in a pink bunny suit, while playing cricket, but alas, the bunnysuit did not help, and thus the great army of pie eating geordies prevailed over the chav, no good, crossdressing, prince charles loving, Southerns.
And atleast we didn't loose to the kiwis.

I used to live not too far from Curry mile in Rusholme, when I was at uni.....mmmmmm

I was at a residential conference in Manchester in February at The Midland Hotel and one evening we walked the 1/4 mile to Chinatown for a meal and took the short taxi ride to Rusholme the following evening.....very nice cuisine.

In my home town of South Shields we have a place called Ocean Road which is a little under half a mile long and leads from the town shopping centre to the beach/coast and boasts approximately 20 curry houses.
