View Full Version : How remove hint icons from appearing on objectives bar
Is there any way to prevent the display of hints on the objectives bar at top centre of the screen. I only need to be fracking told once how to move about the ship with the ASDW keys or how to use the map...I'm not a retard :)
If there's no way to filter out the redundant hint icons, is there a way to get rid of this bar completely?
Thanks

As with virtually every request, this has already been added to TheDarkWraith's UI mod. It defaults to on the first time, and is even toggleable.
For standalone, try here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=164726

I was aware that the TheDarkWraith's UI mod did it but I'd rather avoid heavy duty mods until they have been through several revisions to iron out bugs.
I simply used the forum search tool to search on words like Hints icons, hints and objects icons, tutorial icons etc but didn't get much. Sadly forum search tools aren't that great and people rarely name their posts with suitable subject names to make searching more effective. I'd rather be playing the game than trawling through masses oif posts returned by poor forum search functions :)
I wasn't aware of the standalone one - thanks for pointing that out. However it seems it introduces problems with the skip and cancel buttons not showing in briefings - meaning I'll simply be replacing one annoyance with another. So again I'd rather avoid mods that could introduce more problems.
I guess this is something I'll have to put up with for now but whoever designed this feature needs be taken outside and beaten with the "No more dumb design decisions" stick ;)

Took me four searches to find that and I knew what I was looking for! :O: I have a feeling using the "tags" feature on threads would help, but not many do.

Those buttons are still "there", you just can't see them. If you click roughly where you remember them being, you will activate them.
