Just read a posting over at Pirates Ahoy that the community there has negotiated for and got a release of the source code for City of Abandoned ships from Akella as they are leaving the development business. Perhaps they would be open to negotiate on the Pt-boats source too?

Interesting that Akella is moving on. That will make a bunch of pirate sim people very unhappy. Guess that also means they won't ever release an SDK or mission editor for PT Boats either.

Yes, it would be interesting to have the source code for PT Boats. That, and a 3D plugin would be all that would be needed to make this game do anything in the naval sim world.

I'd be very interested in some ones fixing up PT Boats as mine has been setting on the shelf after a few hours of play. Lousy game as it is right out of the box and VERY expensive also.

It's alright though for the dust won't settle inside the box where the disc is. :haha:

Yeah everyone's pretty excited over at PA! Plans are afoot for a mega mod expansion. Still early days though.

Could be worth your while to sound them out about PT boats. I've been tempted to get that one myself, but am not buying "new release" games anymore. Too many are released broken/unfinished. Too many disappointments in last couple of years. I'll probably get PTboats when the price is nice...i.e. bargain bin price. Are there many people modding it already? Maybe get the modders together and get a representative to get in contact with Akella.

Actually, City of Abandoned ships was basically Akellas implementation of a russian mod team's mod for the old Pirates of the Caribbean/Corsairs. That was a particularly good mod..and it certainly came along way.

Cheers
