Don't worry. It is about the blasphemy laws in Poland :D Most of you didn't hear about these laws in Poland, did you?
Pop star claims Bible written by drunks
One of Poland's most famous and controversial pop stars faces two years in gaol after suggesting that the Bible was written by drunks and people with a fondness for "herbal cigarettes".
Dorota Rabczewska, famed for an unabashed attitude when it comes to flaunting her flesh, and a string of hits, has been charged by Warsaw prosecutors with insulting religious feeling for comments she made in a television interview a year ago.
Better known by her stage name Doda, the 26-year-old singer ruffled conservative sentiment in Catholic Poland by explaining that she believed more in dinosaurs than the Bible because "it is hard to believe in something written by people who drank too much wine and smoked herbal cigarettes." This prompted furious Catholic groups to lodge complaints with the prosecutor's office.
"It is clear that Doda thinks that the Bible was written by drunkards and junkies," said Ryszard Nowak, chairman of the Committee for the Defence Against Sects, an organisation dedicated to protecting Christian values. "I believe that she committed a crime and offended the religious feelings of both Christians and Jews." If found guilty the pop star faces a two-year jail sentence or a hefty fine under Polish blasphemy laws.

That's why I and guys like Dawkins, Hitchens or Condell say it is not enough to overcome Islam only, but that we must overcome religion.
The more influence in public life religions have, the more anti-intellectuality and mental primitivity you see. They work against everything that is good and noble in man's potential. They work not in man's best interest but in the interest of leaders wanting earthly power over people.
Respecting somebody's religion? I respect his/her religion when I do not need to see it in the streets, schools, laws, politics, public isntitutions. the only shrine religion shall be allowed to legally claim is: in the individual's private space, sphere and room.

She is a hotty. She should come to US. Get a spot in Playboy. Become a movie star. There are other ways for publicity other than stating the Bible was written by drunkards. :DL

You're saying that instead of criticising the bible in Poland she should do something else. Pretty simple statement really.

Correct. It does not mean I have a problem with her stating that about the Bible. Opinions are like arseholes...everyone has one. :O:
So, what discussion do you want to get into over this woman? Personally, after reading further on this person...this is how she is. Looks like a publicity stunt to me.

Dude if the bible was written by a bunch of drunk and stoned and overall drugged to **** individuals I would be more apt to be a believer.
But, as it is...
PRAISE ZEUS, DIONYSUS, AND ALL OF THE HELLENIC GODS. :arrgh!:

So everyone who opposes Christianity can be neatly classed as 'publicity stunts', whereas with Islam they aren't.

Well at least you're honest about it unlike many others who try to hide the fact that they only target Islam while turning a blind eye on Christianity.

Anyway, looks like it's some serious slammer time for Dorota, she'll do two years in some Polish female prison. Sounds like some sleazy b-movie. :hmmm:

Poland's becoming like the Ireland of mainland Europe with their anti-blasphemy laws. Ridiculous. Is there such a thing as free speech in Poland or not? Apparently not. I wonder how they would have responded if it had been Judaism or Islam or Hinduism that she'd made the remark about.
^And yes, for the record, Ra is awesome. Osiris, Isis, Horus, Amun, Anubis, Seth, Bastet, Hathor, Sekhmet, Nut, Geb, Thoth, and Ma'at are awesome too, though. We make no special exemptions here.

How can something be blasphemy if it is, essentially, factual? Granted, there is no written record of Jesus or the disciples smoking pot or anything, but Jesus did talk about how pretty much all that the earth makes is good for you in moderation. *Note - I have not and have no future plans to ever roll my own.* It is recorded in the Bible itself that Jesus and the disciples drank wine - and its recorded often enough to make it a fairly regular occurance. Nothing in the book ever talks about Jesus asking for some paper to get a groove on, but it also doesn't record every action. The bible does talk about the burning of herbs (and animal flesh) that offer a "sweet smell" unto the lord, and the rituals in the temple often included burning of herbs. What they were, we don't know for sure.
Gonna be hard to prove blasphemy when there is ample reason to believe the statement is at its core, factual - or at least plausible.
Personally, if I were god (not that I'm not mind you), I'd think that the smell of a big ole lamb chop with garlic and onion on the grill would be pretty danged sweet smellin too. But I digress......

No but I'm thinking a few from Finland just argue to argue. Do you know anyone like that? I know of one I can classify in that category. We can argue about it if you like. :88) BTW, how the frock did Islam get into this?

Since when do "factual" or "plausible" have any meaning when it's about religious feelings?
