Hybrid Technology for ATI \ Nvidia

I'm going to help some of you who are not aware of people who take advantage of using both ati and nvidia technologies together.

Since Nvidia has stopped supporting ati with Physx. There is a group of people modding to make ati and nvidia work together.

With Nvidia's latest drivers they even added a timebomb for ATI users who use a mod to access nvidia physx users sharing primary ATI cards.

How does Hybrid tech work?

You can use solo or crossfire ATI cards, with the 2nd or 3rd slot reserved for a nvidia card version 8XXX or greater. Basically nvidia card stays dormant except for its physx engine.

I have my ati hd5870 working with my GTX280 and its crazy.. I get a maximum FPS of 363 and average of 120 FPs and Max MSAA of 8x... similar benching as the video above.

All I have to say its total awesomeness... :yeah:

I highly suggest using EVGA's Precision software to monitor both cards ATI and NVIDIA...

Pimping your hardware also involves pimping your software since they have a symbiotic relationship. I've been tinkering with Software and hardware long before EULA existed. ;):O:

I'll quote the SUBSIM FAQ on this one.

Now, with that said - specifically SubSim's policy is targetted at piracy. Taking it as far as modifying drivers - well - I would have to get Neal to give his view, but mine is that this is little different than modifying a game. If this was the case, then all the modding subforums woudl need to get shut down. Piracy is downloading/using software without paying for it. Drivers, by their nature, are only useful for the hardware you have paid for. As for EULA's - remember that they are very location specific - some areas/nations/states have different consumer laws which often render EULA's moot. If someone feels that this view is in error - they are more than welcome to fire it up to one of the other mods to have it reconsidered, but I don't see this thread as violating SubSim Policy.

If my nvidia GTX280 didn't fry thanks to nvidia drivers 196.75 back in march I wouldn't have bought ATI HD5870 and did the research. I was an nvidia fanboy.. Never touched ATI in my life well untill recently.

Took me three months to get dell to replace my out of warranty GTX280 thanks from nvidia's pushing through there customer care services. Dell didn't want nothing to do with me. Nvidia screwed up with many clients and took responsibility for there mistakes. BTW I didn't expect them to do it.

While nvidia and dell battled for my compensation I came across information about ATI and nvidia Hybrid tech. I was impressed with the graphic engine ati handles gaming in DX11. I also didn't want to loose nvidia Physx engine features.. Since nvidia has been working hard to remove any support of non nvidia cards.. Groups of Co-ed fans ati\nvidia dudes are modding drivers. Bypassing there timebombs and making both tech work... Very cool stuff.

I felt its only fair to share this information for those who are willing to take advantage of this unheard of PC tweaks. If you asked me 3 months ago would I ever have used ATI cards I would have laughed..

Today I take back what I have said all those years about ati.

Every ATI card I have ever owned had a fan failure.

Its why I have GTX260 now.I think it's just luck, I had 2 nVidia cards and had nothing but troubles, the second was the fan, I since have had 4 ATI cards, 3 have been perfect, one I overclocked a bit too far and it never recovered,:oops: overall I have been quite happy except that their cards tend to run hotter than nVidia, and that is a bad thing!:hmmm:
One of the main reasons I stick with AMD and ATI is they are the same company but without our support they may close shop, has gotten close once before, if that ever happens there will be no competition and prices for Intel/nVidia will skyrocket whilst quality drops!:yep:
