Just thought I'd see if this would work on here, any musicians out there post your stuff or your bands pages in here so the rest of the community can enjoy :)

I suppose I'd better go first, mostly classical covers though there's a couple of melodic death metal tracks on there. Will be getting round to having my own stuff up very soon. Most of the earlier stuff is lower quality as it was done on my old system :)

http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?songs=701656&T=5790I like the metal ones (well, of course I do, I'm not a metalhead for no reason:O:)
Still, I must ask, are the guitars real? they sound kind of ...funny... to me, especially the lead guitar
But if they are midi voices, that distorted guitar would definitely be the best midi guitar voice I've ever heard:)
Mine is in my sig.

Also on YouTube. Type in Monkey Rum.and it's a good band too:cool:
Don't know if I've said it before, but to me it sounds slightly like Black Sabbath... Anyway a bit like the pioneering metal of the 70s with still a bit of its blues rock roots left...
Good music, that's for sure:DL

The guitars are real, In Roswell 47 that was made using my old set up so the quality is quite low. A coming race, the guitars are heavily edited in the original, tried getting as close as I could with same crappy old set up.

Edit: just thought to add, post song, band, tour updates in here as well :D
Edit edit: just thought the most recent ones on there are Ohne Dich, Mutter and Adagio for strings. The rest were done on my old setup. Forgot to mention the two metal ones were on my old system :03:

Please don't let me hold you all up with my edits :haha:

Learn to play the drums then :haha:

*raises hand*

Can we tell drummer jokes here?

I'll start:

How do you get a drummer off your front porch?
Pay him for the pizza.

What's the last thing a drummer says to his bandmates?
"Hey, guys, I wrote some songs!"

What do you call a drummer with a pager?
An optimist.

Those of you who are drummers, please feel free to insert "bass player" in place of "drummer." :O:

Lord_magerius
05-11-10, 06:54 PM
I play all three, but you still can't beat a good drummer joke :D

How do you tell if the stage is level?
The drummer is drooling from both sides of his mouth

How can you tell when a drummer is at the door?
He doesn't know when to come in

Reminds me of my days at college too, during classes where we'd be discussing intricacies of certain songs, we'd usually tell the drummers to f*ck off outside and go and hit things.... your not a musician if you hit things for a living, your a chav!.... etc...

In the interest of fairness, a bass player joke:

It was a big night for the local band. A record exec from a major label was standing just offstage, watching them play for their biggest audience ever. And everything was going perfectly - the sound was flawless, the crowd was enthusiastic, and when they strutted back onstage for their third encore of the evening they could see the exec smiling his greasy corporate grin and giving them a big thumbs up from backstage.

"That's it," the lead singer thought. "We have finally hit the big time. I'm gonna have more money than I can imagine, tour the world, and make love to all the women I want. It's gonna be fantastic."

"That's it," the lead guitarist was also thinking. "We are gonna be rock stars. I'll have the biggest mansion I can find, drive all the fastest cars, and live like a king. This is gonna be awesome."

The drummer was grinning to himself as well as he launched the band into their final number. "That's it, I just know it," he told himself. "I'm gonna be living the high life, drinking the most expensive booze, taking all the best drugs, and trashing the finest hotels. Nothing can stop us now."

Meanwhile, the bass player's face was a model of intense concentration. "That's it," he thought to himself, sweat pouring off his brow. "Thumb on A... pinky on C... middle finger on G..."

What's the difference between a drummer and a large pizza?
A large pizza can feed a family of four.

What do you call a drummer without a girlfriend?
Homeless.

What do you say to a drummer in a three piece suit?
"Will the defendant please rise."

A bass player and a drummer are driving out through the country late one afternoon when their Microbus overheats and stalls. Trapped in the middle of nowhere, the bass player and the drummer walk through a large field up to the steps of a quaint farmhouse. The farmer walks out on the porch, followed by his very attractive daughter, and asks, "Can I help you boys?"

The drummer says, "Yeah, our car broke down. Can we use your phone to call a tow truck?"

The farmer replies, "Well, I don't have a phone and the nearest mechanic is in town about a hundred miles away. I could take you boys in the morning if you don't mind waiting till then."

"I guess that's all we can do," says the bass player, staring at the daughter. "Do you have somewhere we can stay?"

"Well," the farmer replies, "I only have two beds in the house: one is mine and one is my daughter's. You could sleep in with her if that's okay with you."

"That would be fine," the bass player answers immediately.

That night, the drummer and the bass player are both in bed with the daughter. She rolls over to them and says, "Hey, you guys wanna have some fun?" They look at each other and say, "Yeah, why not?"

"Okay then," the girl says, "but put these on so I don't get pregnant."

Three weeks later, the drummer and the bass player are back home jamming in their garage. The bass player turns to the drummer and says, "Hey, do you really care if that girl gets pregnant?"

The drummer replies, "No, I guess not."

The bass player says, "Good, neither do I. I'm gonna take this damn thing off!"

I'm a guitarist in a bunch of bands...none of them ever play though...I'm staying solo until one of them gets their act together.
I tend to play a lot of christian music (I'm not exactly working up my chops playing songs like "Wonderful Cross" but it's still the joy of music that keeps me up there)
But I also do a lot of acoustic and metal
(ACOUSTIC METAL!)

oh and surf rock, me and the drummer of the christian band were friends since kindergarten and we think there's nothing wrong with opening up a church service with Misirlou :haha:
(in case you're wondering, neither does the pastors...or the old people we tend to play for)

My brother-in-law's been drumming since his teens at least, in the mid to late 60s. He was a huge Beach Boys and surf rock fan back in the day... he gets out of it for a while, but then somebody will get him back into playing. Lately he and my sister have been attending services at the Methodist church near their house, and they have a band that plays there. The regular drummer couldn't make it every week so they asked my BIL if he'd be available once a month and he agreed.

So far he's having a blast with it. We keep asking him how long it'll be before he figures out a way to work "Wipeout" into the set list. :O:

I suppose it comes under the humorous black metal section. We've only got three songs.
Das boot (Battleaxe cover) - exactly what it says on the tin
Power rangers theme - Black metal version of said theme
Blackroll - Black metal version of Rick Astley's "never gonna give you up"

Enjoy

I'm just a amateur musician, I play guitar, bass, synthesiser (still learning after 3 years) and keyboard.

Other than that I've been making music on the computer for about 6 years, I don't have anything I'd dare share with the world though.

I've been in MANY bands since the 80's. Most of them were punk bands. I started my first band doing music I wanted to do back sometime around 1990. I wanted to start making industrial music so I used tracker programs like Modedit and ScreamTracker to generate electronic sounds, synths, drum beats, and sampled/edited noise. We used to add a live drummer sometimes. I would play guitar and a friend of mine would sing/growl/scream with distorted and echoed vocals. I still have the tapes of it somewhere.

Now I have many synths and samplers, and a full computer recording studio in my "man cave" here, but wouldn't you know it. Now that I'm old and have all this equipment, I havn't been in a single band or performed live like I used to do all the time back in the day. There's just no venue for my style of music around here any more. Unless you play classic rock, hip hop, or folk, you're completely shut out of the music scene here.

I DID play live as a solo performer once about 7 years ago at a church talent show. I think the olds didn't appreciate me and the kids just didn't "get" it.

Suppose you know them already (seeing the great musical taste you seem to have:)), but these are 2 more great humorous metal covers of some pretty famous songs:

Children of Bodom - Lookin' Out My Back Door (Creedence Clearwater Revival cover) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbfYK4I3rZM)
Norther - The Final Countdown (Europe cover) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNvRMBqqvrs) (actually the original is 'metal' already, glam metal:roll:)

I consider myself as a musician, I have my guitar on my lap as I write this (I was trying to work out chet baker's version of 'Almost Blue'), but I don't have anything to share with me playing anything
I've played bass guitar since I was 19, and acoustic guitar from about 23.
Guitar is something I do just for me, whilst bass is my choice if I'm playing with others.

As for what styles... for bass, just about anything really, so long as it has a bit of melody to play. The only examples of stuff I play on my guitar are a couple of tunes I have spent an [I]age learning to play fluently:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yu0FjmcJva8 (still some work with this one - intonation is not right)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uS-1sI0oQes (I play it a tiny fraction slower as it gets to be a bit of a mission when I've not practised for a while)

I don't really play as much as I used to. Not much motivation right now apart from this 'almost blue' thing with my acoustic.

Hi all
I'm a Singer Songwriter with a band called FarCry first registered in 1985 and not to be confused with the many other bands now on the net by the same name
I have written a song in 1983 called "Lusitania" the style back then was called New Wave, now its called Ambient Alternative. It is written from the perspective of the U-Boat Commander, from returning from leave, to hunting the Seas and the sinking.

hmmm not sure i should post in here...but i give it a try....

Im learning to play music....been practiceing to learn the guitar....

To understand me there is a long story, but in few words here is how it is. I grew up in a home with problems, was shipped to "Rudolph steiner school"'

There i had a talent with music, but because no one exept the school tryed to evolve this in my teens it got lost.

Here in my 30`s i finaly got some help with working on my old "isues" and gave my self a Ukelele as a gift. After some fooling around with that i picked up the guitar the GF bought 12 years ago....

I sat down one evening and played the flute, last time a used one was 20 years ago....after playing the flute it began to come back to me.

Since then music have become a major part of my life, like finding a old friend...Im years behind the 18 year olds, but i have fun and slowly progress towards my goals....
I have used my new found skills making some "fun" songs to some players of Eve online....

Some of what i have made can be found on youtube, just browse 44999923

I have loads of other stuf that isnt published....

I know im noob at this, but i do it with my heart. Im learning in a apce i can follow using both a few DVD`s and youtube....never took a lesson...but thinking on that since i have probs getting my ring finger and pinkie working solo, they just wount work independant lmao....dont think 8 years of boxing helped out on that....

I cant sing....and im working on a "so far so good vidio" that might help others out with a few things.....when they begin on the guitar...

well....

I can say that doing my job i can use the "old" talent...and my life got 50% better after i startet to listen and play again....

Been kept awake with bloody lyrics writing themselves in my head. Thought I'd jot them down, a bit emo methinks though. Might have to change them a touch :hmmm:

Mile after mile of desolation
Spreading throughout the corners of my mind
Isolation in the darkness of your treachery
Solidarity in the defiance of you lies

Satisfying your childish need for drama
With the ruthless efficiency of your words
Breaking my legs and my spirit
I scream but no sound can be heard

Hatred, love and revulsion
Burning me down to the core
Hatred, love and revulsion
Wasting me down to the bone

Sacrificing my mind to your madness
Trapped in your squalid embrace
Seething from tendrils of venom
Destroyed by melodies of hate

Hatred, love and revulsion
Burning me down to the core
Hatred, love and revulsion
Wasting me down to the bone

Hatred, love and revulsion
Burning me down to the core
Hatred, love and revulsion
Wasting me down to the bone

Makes me think of the more emotional Norther songs:rock:

Norther - Dead (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBAScSEMO50)
When you're going blind
from your tears
and you wander deeper
and deeper into sorrow
for each step you take
And your feet won't carry
you no more
and you sink deeper
and deeper into misery
and you'll soon be...deadNorther - Everything (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_-tffuRAFg&fmt=18)
You took it all, all away, left me there, there to stay
Feeling so cold now I'm on my own now
Why should I live my life anymore
You are gone and I lost it all
There's nothing to lean on, nothing to hold on
Still I have to carry on, carry on and on
There's nowhere to go to, nowhere to go to
I'll hope this pain will fade away, fade away some day
There's nothing to live for, there's nothing to die for

I like the idea of stickying this thread,

I've never been a good lyricist. it was beyond me. thankfully my girlfriend has a lot of material so all I gotta do is put her stuff to music. that's a little more on my level.

I tend to stick with overly happy acoustic music or rock, every now and then I will venture into the heavy metal that inspired me to pick up all these instruments but the anger of it all just isn't me anymore. :yep:

I'm also thinking alot about writing stuff. Not much to make up my own music byt lyrics and stuff I could always try. I'm much into Springsteen so I would like to think that I could make something towards the working class. Unfortunately, I don't really belong to the workers so I can't really relate to it and get any good ideas...

I still have the old master tape we made in high school. Big dreams. Which were dashed when the frontman and lead guitarist headed off to college. :haha:

A close friend of mine managed to transfer a couple of the tracks from tape to hard drive a few years back, and unfortunately I have lost both of those files. Can't post any material here.

Those were the days for me. A knobby-knee kid hiding behind a set of Tama Rockstars that had been given to me by a family friend. One really decent ride cymbal and a cheap crash. The hats were cheap as toilet paper, too. And the snare stand had issues standing on its own three feet. I made up for shyness and lack of social skills by playing. Every moment on stage behind those monsters was an eternity of glory. Such great fun. I could hide in the open while doing something I truly enjoyed. :DL

I'm also recording the fate of norns. One of the only songs that makes me cry when listening to it. Here are the lyrics

I feel a chill in my heart
Like lingering winter cold
I and my son are torn apart
He was just 6 winters old

My first-born was he
And the last of my kin
The last one to carry my name
Death smiled at him its deadly grin
There is no one for me to blame

The fate of Norns await us all
There is no way to escape
The day to answer Oden's call
Or walk through hel's gate

I carry him to my ship
He seems to be asleep
But the deep blue colour of his lips
Is enough to make me weep

No man should have to bury his child
Yet this has been my share
The tears i shed run bitter and wild
It's a heavy burden to bear

His body feels so light in my arms
His skin is pale as snow
Yet his weight feels heavy in my heart
As my sadness continues to grow

Allfather!
What fate has been given me?
Why must I suffer?
Why must I feel this pain?
Allfather!
LIfe has lost it's meaning to me
I think I'm going insane!

I lay him down on a pyre
A burial worthy a king
And as I lie down by his side
I hear the weaving norns sing

The fate of Norns await us all
There is no way to escape
The day to answer Oden's call
Or walk through hel's gate

The fate of Norns await us all
I know this to be true
It's time to answer Odens's call
My son, he calls for me and you

Record them. Tag them. Put them aside. After a week, listen to it and see what pops into your head.

Doesn't work every time, but it's a lot more effective than obsessing over it until you can't think at all.

Reviving this thread, two years on :shucks:.
I play bass, bit of guitar, trumpet.
Not in a proper band yet, but I have tried writing songs. It is not my forte to say the least...
