Hmm...
1) Give some to my parents
2) Quit my job
3) Look after my kids full-time
First thing i'd buy is a brand new home, where the kids and i would live, happily ever after...or until they grow up and wanna see the world

1. Make sure it was perfectly legit
2. Buy myself, my sister and my parents a moderate house each
3. Start a business to bring in a steady profit.

1) Hire a good tax lawyer

2) Put 25% of after-tax total into offshore account, give 50% to various people/institutions, save 25% for business venture (below)

3) 1/2 scale fully-functional 3rd-rate ship-of -the-line replica tricked out like a pirate ship and furnished with belowdecks restaurant/bar and several leisure areas. Surprised no-one's offered to 'waste' their money on buying out Ubisoft?
SH6 anyone?

Take 10% and splurge. New home, car, trip, etc.

Invest the rest in tax-free municipal bonds. Live off the interest.

Immediately move to hide from the sudden influx of relatives who would just happen to take this time to "get to know me". :nope:

I don't know if I would quit my job. I might reclassify as a consultant and only work on the projects that interest me though.

But I would definitely, buy my farm out in the country for my animal rescue work. :yep:

I might have to buy a new hat.

No, but I might hire some programmers to make a submarine simulator to MY specifications for my personal use though. :yeah:

And if someone would want to play MY simulator the way I programmed it, they would be welcome to it. But it would be first, and foremost, MY simulator.

1. Pay off all outstanding debts
2. Buy a new car
3. Buy a nice condo
4. Pay off debts/mortgages etc. for a very select group of close family & friends
5. Put a nice chunk away for retirement

I honestly don't know if I'd quit my job or not. We used to have a lottery pool for the Powerball at my office and everybody would throw in a dollar once a week and then if we won we'd divvy up the jackpot. The standing joke was that if we did win the big jackpot, nobody would show up the next day except for me and the office manager. Probably true. At the very least I'd keep at it until they were sorted as far as hiring/training someone else to do my job (since I'm the only one there who knows how to do 80% of what I do, and the cash flow is pretty much dependent on it getting done).

Maybe eventually, if I could live off the interest from investing what remained after 1-5 above, I could find something else I really wanted to do and not have to worry about making a living from it. I might volunteer here and there for causes close to my heart, or even look into the possibility of teaching martial arts as a vocation.

The main thing to me would be to get my life as it is now sorted out to my satisfaction, financially speaking, and to help the people I care for most do the same. After that - who knows?

I do know that I'd probably travel to a lot of places I've always wanted to visit but would likely never get to otherwise.

Unfortunately I don't wear hats so buying a new one would just seem wasteful. :O:

Hmm.

First: Look at it for a second... probably with the words WTF going through my head

Second: then id be happy

Soon after id move... to europe maby, or a nice place in the US. Soon followed by a nice car, house, a Speedboat and suff.

Id spend about 3 to 4 million of it, save the rest up for life.

but ya know, the lottery around here has gotten to 266 million. I FEEL JIPPED!

If I got that. :)
Id have a Nice boat, car and a WW2 Tiger, or panther tank. something Ive always wanted.

After paying taxes i would probably have about $6,500,000 left over.

1. I would buy my wife and I some acreage in the country and build myself a grass strip runway a hangar and a quaint log home (not tiny but not sprawling either).

this would leave me with about $6,000,000

2. I would buy a Thunder Mustang, a mint 1944 L4 Cub, and a Boeing Stearman

this would leave me with about $5,300,000

3. I would pay off my truck and spend about $10,000 tricking it out with cool accessories.

this would leave me with about $5,265,000

4. I would donate about $1.5M to various charities

this would leave me with about $3,765,000

5. I would pay off my mothers home and my best friend's home

this would leave me about $3,400,000 which i would use to live out the remainder of my days in peace, quiet and solitude.

1. Build a castle to historic specifications with hidden modern conveniences. This is my home but will use for parties, school tours, historical re-enactments, Summer workshops, teaching, Halloween Haunted Dungeon etc. (Subsimmers get in free!)

http://www.castlemagic.com/BW/1g.jpg

Cost about $5,000,000 (http://www.castlemagic.com/color.html) for land, and funds to run.

2. Make everyone I know (and can tolerate) very happy. (Read party at my house...)

3. Make charitable donations to help others.

1) Split it with my wife 50/50 and let her do what she wants with her half.
2) put 1 million away for my daughter so she has a chance for a better future.
3) Buy myself a nice car, and a shack far north with my own lake and mountain for a backyard.
4) help out a few people who helped me.
5) Live the rest of my life fishing and relaxing by my shack with my family... :yeah:

get Israeli citizenship, open micro credit banking for the Palestinians, open orphanage or shelter house for the Palestinians. . . or maybe not all these . . .

Can't think of any other things . . . really

:hmmm:

In fact I had given much thought on this what if question but really I'm clueless. Those are only thought of after much thinking and not so sure either.

One thing for sure is opening micro credit banking for the poor people of my current country. They deserve better.

As a place to move to? I might get a house on the beach, there. Otherwise, I think I might get a place in Switzerland of someplace like Liechtenstein. I guess it depends on how much money I'd get in the lottery. I might have to stay in the U.S. because the dollar is still weak. Perhaps I'd get an RV and go to a series of music festivals during the summer, or get a boat and go far, far away. Once again, it depends on the amount of money. I probably would just hole up, somewhere, and find a way to make more money off my current money.

How about...buying a bunker or a series of bunkers linked by tunnels near the beach? That would be amusing!!!

Now, if my wealth were absolute, I'd probably get myself a nuclear powered (or at least long range) submarine but w/a deck and all kinds of amenities. I'd expect to be on the surface most of the time, and would dive just to have a smooth ride when seas are rough. And there WOULD be a watertight hangar with floatplane/flying boat!! Or just get a huge amphibious plane because I'm not sure there are many places in the world which can service a civilian submarine.
