Has anyone played it yet, or got to it? If so I would like to see what it looks like. It'd be nice if you could post pictures as well. :)

ReFaN posted a screenshot in the screenshots thread, which I think is the QM:

Yes that's definitely her. How do you get her? The model in the game/ rec manual named QM seems to be the Rawlpindi, although in the printed rec manual it is indeed the QM.

I think it uses a substitute until you download the QM mission, using UPlay points, after which it will use the right model.

Nice, a bit cheeky to put it in the prnted rec manual thiough, you kind of assume if it's in there it would be in the game! another weird SH5 development decision.

Or until somebody ports the model for those who aren't going along with the BS of this stupid points system.

What's so stupid about it? :06:
Was quite pleased to unlock stuff for other games right after install with points I earned in SH5.

I agree, I unlocked the skins shortly after, along with the wallpaper. It was pretty sweet! And thanks for posting the picture. I want to unlock that mission soon. :DL

Why not build it in game as a reward? It's a bit akward having to stop the game, log in to a website, look for the rewards, downloading and installing them before firing up the game again, while the same could be done with a convinient ingame system. I see no gain over going to the net to get core game material in the net when it was obviously available from the very start of release.
IMHO just a justification to get U-Play involved somehow, and in a very akward way. (Lessons from Bioware...if you offer DLCs for free from the start, to make purchasing an original game worthwhile and rewarding, make them real game changers, ADDING to the game, not making it complete with stuff that should have been in there from the start)

In-game rewards are usually the "jump through hoop" types; kill x amount of enemies, collect x amount of crap, etc. You get all the Uplay points by simply playing the game through to the credits once, so you really don't have to do anything for them; you bought the game, so it's fair to assume you'll at least play through it once. The fact you can save up points and use them on any game is a nice feature imho, but that does require it to be out-game points.
I agree on the implementation though, would have been much better if it was just an in-game browser.
As far as adding to the game goes, that doesn't really fly. Bioware's (truly) free stuff doesn't add anything either and should have been there from the start as well. Ubi is actually copying this in SC Conviction: they tease you to check back every Thursday for free stuff, and indeed last Thursday a new outfit was available for multi-player.
Heck, you know what? A lot of extra content from Bioware is only free for new-game owners, others have to pay. At least Uplay content is free for everyone... not that you can resell your game, so it comes down to the same thing... ehr, where was I going with this?

Not going to buy any new UBI games after the DRM fiasco and the convinient offering of out of date/different subject matter games as alternatives, so I really can't care less about other game points. As we are at it, want some Prince of Persia action or Snowboarding? Still have the UBI mail and have to get rid of that stuff.
Besides, where is the logic in spending points you earned outside of the SHV area? Not everyone is a hardcore gamer. I bought SHV to play SHV, nothing else. Keep it focussed.
There obviously is a cultural clash here, UBI confusing subsimmers with console gamer nerds. In the very best of cases UBI simply did not deem it nessecary to put any brain mass to the needs of its customers. For example, an added Type II submarine, fully worked out, or another capaign year, another operational theatre, stuff liek this would have been great!

It is one thing to offer a couple paintshemes or a mission with a a ship that should have been from the start. Its easy to be done stuff, quite obviously taken out of the game after it was already done just to have something to put into it again. Again, no "thinking" in there, just a cheap rip off of others companies offering shemes in the line of "Hey, others put stuff in their games, now lets see where we can do the same".
On the other hand, offering completly new characters with dialouge and animations coupled with new missions. Think of Bioware what you want, but what they offer is not percieved as "in from the start" material, simply because the game runs perfectly without and does not give the impression of anything lacking even with the basic game. As such these extra stuffs are indeed a rewarding bonus. Fact is, I was impressed by Bioware, they managed to get some positive feelings going, and seriously dissapointed with what UBI offered.

At least Uplay content is free for everyone... not that you can resell your game, so it comes down to the same thing... ehr, where was I going with this? :doh:Oh yes, quite right there. But you see, at least you CAN sell Bioware games and play them out of the box quite nicely. When it comes down to it, you can even play without registering in the net. It's all completly voluntarily. Purchasing the game and registering will give you tons of benefits, but you can quite nicely play without even an internet connections. It's reward based, with the rewards actually worth the hassle.
Its the opposite around for UBI stuff and there is a big difference in judging a company in by having the freedom for your own descisions or this company forcing you into it. The latter case I quite rightly regard as a case of confrontation, not peaceful coexistance for the mutual benefit.

Yes i was very disapointed with the UPLAY thing. I have not spent any of my points yet... I've not even looked at it for over 3 weeks.
I was slightly interested in the leader board for tonnage sunk.
Then i saw the unrealistic scores posted. :nope:
Surely they could have seperated the players playing on easy, from the players playing on realistic.
But even then the scores would be open to cheats. Like increased damage mods etc.
So IMO the whole UPLAY thing is a waste of time.:damn:

Again, just playing through the game gives you all the points and let's you unlock everything. You'll have to jump through some rather annoying hoopes in most games that have unlockable content. That the points transfer to other games if you're not interested in some stuff is a bonus. Doesn't matter if the points are in- or out-game.
There we have to agree to disagree. It is one thing to offer a couple paintshemes or a mission with a a ship that should have been from the start. The completely new content is only free if you buy it new, others will have to pay. That's what I ment with "truly free". I have nothing but respect for Bioware, by far my favorite developer. Just seems that there's a bit of an unfair bias against Ubi, wouldn't you agree? Understandable, but unfair non the less.
Truly free extra content for Dragon Age is a dagger, Mass Effect has none whatsoever.
Oh yes, quite right there. But you see, at least you CAN sell Bioware games and play them out of the box quite nicely. When it comes down to it, you can even play without registering in the net. No argument there, but I think you mean the DLC for Bioware games is worth the hassle. I've yet to see any unlockables in either Dragon Age or Mass Effect. ;)
In short, seems like misplaced anger once again. Direct it at Ubi, not something like Uplay; it neither deserves it or gets you anywhere.

If that is the only thing you can come up with, please don't bother again to answer one of my entries, or at least do not expect an answer. Life's too short for fanboys.

That is rich. You engage him in a discussion and insult him when he does not agree with your anti-Ubi rant. :rotfl2:
Arclight is valued member of the forum who has already produced many great mods for SH5.
As for you.....well your post speaks for itself....:rotfl2:

Fanboy's Fanboys? :woot:
You'd do your case a much better service by picking up the arguments Arclight so conviently ignored to go into knock-out argument mode once "he" ran out of steam and brought it all down to simplistic "you are angry" stuff.
So please spare me the blames, especially over something harmless like "Fanboy".

Bilge, if Arclight is your buddy or something, and you want to defend him, my deepest of respect, that is what Buddies do. But don't do it by playing the same game you accuse others of.
That said, I certainly apologize for "fanboy", if this forum is indeed as sensitive as it appears.
Or you actually show some humor here, in which case...well played, hehe.

tempers are frayed on both sides, more so than they should be over a mere game.
we can disagree heatedly over an issue and still maintain a civil tone in our discourses.
Hopefully the Patch will actually fix something and not be mere vapourware.
A toast to you, good sir....:()1:
