Hi,

After installing Hitman's GUI it was time for me to switch auto targeting for manual targeting.

I already sunk some lone merchants using visual to estimate the course etc. of the target. Now I am somewhere near AM51 and I got a contact report of a convoy. Plotted and rought intercept course and the convoy is now within hydrophone range (although it seems like the convoy did change its course). Because of the bad visibility and stormy weather I want to plot the course of the convoy using the hydrophone. But the only information available is the bearing and general direction (closing/moving away etc.).

Are there any guides explaining how to estimate the general course of a convoy (or singe target) using hydrophone only. I already had a look into raduz's hydrophone tutorial. But this tutorial uses some elements that weren't available to the real u-boat commander. So I don't want to use it.

if you are into plotting and drawing (can be done on the nav-map) then I advice this tutorial-vid:
http://nefelodamon.blip.tv/

it shows how to track a single contact, but can be used for convoys as well, if you can "lock" on a merchant.

Just was watching the same video on youtube:) Looks very usefull. Does there happen to be a pdf file of this method so I can make a paper copy of it?

Yes there is a pdf along with a very useful utility called Hydrophone Tracker that I downloaded from subsim.

It helps you calculate the projected course and speed of the contact according to your observations.

You can find it here:
