We Dive at Dawn: 19:30hrs

A British submarine crew is unexpectedly ordered to carry out a top-secret mission to sink the German fleet's latest battleship in the Baltic Sea. But it is not long before disaster strikes and the vessel becomes stranded in the middle of the ocean with no fuel or food. World War Two adventure, starring John Mills, Eric Portman, Reginald Purdell and Niall MacGinnis. Part of Submariners' Night

Dive Dive Dive 21:00hrs - 22:00hrs

Robert Llewellyn investigates the appeal of submarine films, travelling along the River Medway to find a beached Cold War Russian nuclear vessel, and visiting abandoned World War Two German U-boat pens on the French coast. He recalls the events that inspired movies including 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and The Hunt for Red October, and reveals the role played by Walt Disney in promoting atomic submarines.

Crimson Tide 22:00hrs - 2350hrs

A veteran US submarine captain intercepts an incomplete message after a Russian base falls into rebel hands, and is convinced it is an order to fire his nuclear weapons. However, his principled first officer refuses to take such potentially devastating action without confirmed orders, leading to a deadly battle of wills.

Crimson Tide... oh well at least they didn't pick U-571!!

The documentary sounds interesting... time to set the freesat box. Maybe this is part of the build up for the new Laconia drama on the Beeb, at over 3 hours long and with an Alan Bleasdale script that's definitely going to be worth watching.

Thanks for the news!
